    1. [CAN-BC] Brittannia Mines photos 1916
    2. Jim Bundy
    3. Hi, I've just scanned another album page, these all of Brittannia Mines in 1916. My Dad remembers it from later years, when his parents worked there again, and maybe Dad as flunky during non school months. Let me know if you'd like to see them, and I'll send you a copy. Jim Bundy

    2. Jim Bundy
    3. Hi, I've just scanned another page of an album, with 4 pictures, all notated (whew), but one that doesn't make any sense to me, it looks line "hauling mortars black....", whatever that means. The others are of an old loaded log truck at Courtenay, Sheep Creek Motherlode Mill site in 1911, and one of my grandmother in front of a house, can't see much of it, but doesn't look like its in Vancouver, where she and my grandfather spent some winters between jobs. Let me know if you would be interested in seeing any, and I'll be glad to share them. Merry Christmas! Jim Bundy

    3. Merry Christmas to all from a mild, wet SW Ontario. Luckily we have missed all the terrible weather you have been having in B.C. After the holidays, is there some kind person that could get me the information on the death certificate for my grand-nephew, Craig Neil Costantino, who died at age 11 days in Vancouver in 1974. His mother, my niece, just will not give me any data as I think she is still dealing with the grief of the death of her firstborn. I realize the libraries are closed for the holidays. The registration information is below: Vital Event Death Registration Name: Craig Costantino Event Date: 1974 10 13 (Yr/Mo/Day) Age: 0 Gender: male Event Place: Vancouver Reg. 3. Hi Carol Yes you did and I had it in mind to ask if you had an e-mail for Cliff. I willl send one off now, and hope that he will contact me in the New Year' I printed out all the messages sent to me, as I find it interesting and important to make them part of Eleanors Journey. Heavy frost here to-day but warms up later. B.C. has had a rough time of it lately. Enjoy your sunshine. Thanks and All The Best for 2007 Regards Mary

    3. Hi Mary, I believe I have contacted you before - but if not, here goes. My Grandmother attended the Metlakatla School from 1904 to 1910. She worked there as a cook in the later years. There are pictures on line at the B.C. archives and pictures can be sent (for a small fee) from the Diocese of New Caledonia in Prince Rupert where Cliff Armstrong is the very competent and friendly archivist. His email is: calarch@citytel.net He may have records of your ancestor. Good Luck!! Carol Wright (currently enjoying the sun in Arizona) Everything is always ok in the end. If it isn't - then it's not the end!! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

A gentleman from Nevada posted a poem on the Can-BC list "Strangers in a box' did you see it. Very appropriate. Thanks Jim Compliments of the Season Mary

    3. Hi, This will probably be it for today, but I did scan 1 more page. It has a picture of cabins at Sheep Creek in lots of snow, and sleigh with 2 persons, in front of icicles that dwarf the sleigh. The others are of my grandparents in various outdoor settings, where, I can't really tell Jim Bundy

    2. Jim Bundy
    3. Hi, After several days without electricity, following our huge windstorm in the Seattle area, I'm happy to say I've restarted my scanning project. This page has pictures of my grandparents, but outdoors, noted at Fort Kaslo and Loughborough Inlet. They really moved around before my Dad was born. 2 of the 5 aren't noted as to location, but probably 1 of the 2 above mentioned places. If anyone would like to see them, I'd be happy to share the scans. Jim Bundy PS - my gas fireplace was a real help, at least some heat. We've lost several people around town so far to CO poisoning, trying to use grills/generators indoors! 250,000 still without power.

    1. [CAN-BC] Strangers in the Box- a poem about unlabeled pictures
    2. Gerry Perry
    3. Strangers in the BoxA friend sent this poem to me. I thought it was very appropriate for all the genealogists out there, so I am sharing. Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy Holiday Season to all. Gerry Perry Nevada Tombstone Project/Obituary Manager Strangers in the Box by Pam Harazim Come, look with me inside this drawer, In a box, I've often seen, At photos faded, black and white, Faces proud, still and serene. I wish I knew these people, The strangers in the box. Their names and all their memories, Are lost in with my socks. I wonder what their lives were like, How did they spend their days? Their happy, sad and special times. I'll never know their ways. If only they had taken the time, To tell, who, what, where, when, These faces in my heritage, Would come to life again. Could this become the fate, Of photos made today? The faces and the memories, Someday just tossed away? Make time to save your photos. Seize the opportunity when it knocks, Or someday you and yours could be The strangers in the Box...
