    3. Many thanks to everyone for all the help I've been given on this family especially Karen, Stella and Muriel. It now looks like I need to pop over to Australia for Williams family at least. Wish I'd known earlier as we've recently had a holiday there ! Daphne HUGHES

    3. Hi Daphne - I was able to get out - and into town - late today - and took a look at the Death Registrations. Copied same -These early ones hold very little information. Sarah's is readable - 4 tries for Henry - one is barely readable. Searched for Obits in one of the Vancouver papers - but time was so limited that I did not succeed. William is the one who discovered Sarah's body. Looked at City Directories - and all three men were living at the same address. Searched the Directories - to the 1913 - *information taken for the directories in 1912. Harry appears in the 1913 directory. I searched the Daily Province newspaper - for the date of Sarah's death. Information on the front page -attempted to copy - but the copy is unreadable. If I can manage to get out - again - soon. - I will check with the New Westminster Public Library. The Coroners office should be able to assist you - for both. Sarah and Henry. There should be court records - Perhaps now in the custody of the Provincial Archive in Victoria? Searched the Online White Pages Directories - for JOBES surname 37 Listings Nationwide - Canada - perhaps some family connected. 7 in British Columbia. 5 in Manitoba. 19 in Nova Scotia 6 in Ontario Cheers, Stella At 01:22 PM 26/02/2007, DAPHNE HUGHES wrote: >Hi, I am new to the list. > > I am trying to find any family that are descended from my fathers cousins, > > Harry JOBES born 1887 at Sunderland County Durham England > and his brother > Wiliam JOBES born 1889 at Crossgate Moor, County Durham England > They were the sons of > Henry JOBES and Sarah Ann Elizabeth née GIPSON. > They were last known to be in New > Westminster British Columbia Canada in 1911. > They seem to have disappeared after a family > tragedy and family in the UK would like to make > contact with any descendants if possible. > > Daphne Hughes > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an >email to >CAN-BRITISH-COLUMBIA-request@rootsweb.com with >the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the >subject and the body of the message

    3. Have you verified the loation in New Westminster on the 1911 census - the present 1911 census? There is a national census searches site, cost $45 per person, returned if not found and it would be worth the money to find them -- census open to about 1991, about 20 years behind our present online one. Here is the address -- you do not have to use Mr. Paul Johnson, as I saw the address online without the name. 3. Donna would be about 65 now. When she left Toronto she was a single adult woman, roughly 20 years old. She left abruptly about 1962-65. I don't know what school she attended--would classmates be able to tell me just from a name and the city of Toronto? Thanks for responding! 1. [CAN-BC] Percentages
    2. muriel m davidson
    3. Quebec's scoreboard percentage is 96.94% -- a little bit to go before the province has 100%. For anyone doing transcribing, and to save you time looking up the various districts where a bit of work is done, I did it for you. In alphabetical order:- Bellechasse....................99.98% Gaspe............................99.98% Jacques Cartier..............54.81% Labelle...........................80.62% Lévis..............................89.49% Maisonneuve..................88.10% Montcalm.......................96.29% If a page is enumerated in French, just check at the bottom of the page, and it will switch images from English to French -- it is far easier than trying to figure out the English language unless one is accustomed to it. Also, in many parts of Quebec, women were enumerated by their maiden names -- this is a custom and if on the image, should be followed -- not changed to the surname of the husband. Other percentages are Alberta - 66.23%; British Columbia - 72.43%; Manitoba is 100.01% with Winnipeg at 99.99% - needs finishing. Let's see what another week will do! Muriel M. 1. [CAN-BC] Vancouver Sun and Province Newspaper Articles
    2. Colin McMillan
    3. Hello all. I am looking for a couple of articles regarding a law suit my gr uncle had against a Dr. Roger Wilson of Vancouver. My gr uncle was Swan Swanson. It had to do with a misdiagnosis of cancer and operation done in 1951. Apparently there is an article in the Vancouver Sun on April 5 or 6, 1955 and the Province on April 7, 1955. I was wondering if anyone would be visiting the Vancouver library and could take a look for me and make copies of these articles. It would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Cheryl McMillan Sudbury, Ontario

One seems to be a picture in the Fraser River canyon, probably taken from a train, as my entire Ramsay family never had a car or even learned to drive. Luckily they lived in the Vancouver area, which always had great mass transit. The other picture shows a Northwest Indian style canoe with 8 people aboard, no idea who they were. 2. Hi there I am wondering please if anyone knows of this Heggie family as to John Newton Heggies parents and if he and Jessie Sotham had more children and what D. W. N. Heggie's name was and if he married and had children. I have found Heggies on BMD for BC, on rootsweb family search for BC and have checked the 1901 and 1911 census for Canada online but can't find them. I have also checked Canada 411 and BC Tel for addresses and there are no Heggies in Vancouver. I do know that on Jessie's death registration for her 1966 death the informant is D.W.N. Heggie, son, whose address is 5485 Culloden Street in Vancouver. I have found the house online as being up for sale.
