To all -- Transcribing seems to have picked up a bit during the past week, we are anxious to see completion of Saskatchewan - then we will only have Alberta and British Columbia. After that come the proofreaders -- I wish them luck in some areas - too much ink or not enough as in Halifax. Percentages:- CANADA..........................97.12% ALBERTA.........................82.21% BRITISH COLUMBIA.......79.95% SASKATCHEWAN...........89.42% I have been proofreading for some of the transcribers, also putting in addresses of the small villages in Shelburne and Queens area. If one can only have time to do a page or two -- DO NOT CLAIM unless you are the last one - all pages must have 50 lines. One was found yesterday that had been claimed 2006 - 05-01 - 15 lines. Let's get the job done and on to our own interests - one person sent a note that the transcribing would not be done until end of 2008 0 I would like to prove that person wrong. Any questions? Let me know -- if I do not have the answer, will find it. http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/ Muriel M. Davidson Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee Brampton, ON
Thanks to many of you, I now have the complete page printed. I saved it to desktop and then could change the size. I appreciate your time for me. To all:- I am copying in the NOVA-SCOTIA list -- there were many transcribers who assisted in making this province the first to be 100% - but Lunenburg County was the first county. It would be nice to have all provinces transcribed -- I know proofreaders have been working in Nova Scotia (I had a number of pages to correct, mainly in the Queens and Shelburne areas). Percentages to date are:- CANADA...............................96.99% ALBERTA..............................80.15% [Calgary is 100%] BRITISH COLUMBIA............79.40% [Nanaimo is 100%] SASKATCHEWAN.................88.24% [Four districts 100%] REQUEST:- If a transcriber cannot figure out the writing - it can be bad, please do NOT Claim the Page -- this prevents others from trying to finish it. Also, too many pages have less than 50 lines -- some were claimed in 2006 -- and I have requested many unlocked. Let's get this job done -- census is a major part of genealogy. http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/ Muriel M. Davidson muriel_davidson@sympatico.ca Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee Brampton, ON

Greetings All. The name Annette Fulford is familiar to all of us who subscribe to the British Columbia mail list. She has been extremely helpful to others seeking information on this list. What most subscribers will not be aware of is that Annette was recently presented a Heritage Award by Maple Ridge acting Mayor Ernie Daykin. The award was in appreciation for the past ten years that she has written and edited the Maple Ridge Historical Society Family History Newsletter. There is a picture of her presentation in the March 2007 issue of the British Columbia Historical Federation Newsletter at http://bchistory.ca/publications/newsletter/oldnewsletters/18_mar2007.pdf Congratulations Annette. For my own part, yesterday I received an email yesterday from the British Columbia Historical Federation inviting me to attend their awards banquet in Victoria on 12 may 2007. They advised that they wish to present me with a Certificate of Merit for the part that I played in regaining public access to Historic Census Records. It will be my honour to attend, along with my daughter, to receive the Certificate of Merit. Gordon A. I've been involved with DNA testing for my paternal grandmother's line- just waiting for results from a male cousin. That costs about $250.00 US so this sounds like a fantastic opportunity. There's a group that the Family Tree DNA organization recommends- membership is free. http://www.isogg.org/ International Society of Genetic Genealogy. To all -- As of now, the latest percentages for the three remaining provinces are as follows:- CANADA is transcribed 96.77% ALBERTA...............................78.26% BRITISH COLUMBIA.............78.86% SASKATCHEWAN..................87.08% Staff at Automated Genealogy had estimated, some time ago, all of Canada would be completed by March and then April. Personally, with the handwriting we are encountering, I am hoping for July 1! I have copied this to the NOVA-SCOTIA list -- the first to be 100%, and should any subscribers like to become transcribers, please let me know -- I already have 10 from United States assisting us - thanks! Several new transcribers have contacted me the past few days and I will be happy to answer any questions -- there are many answers at Frequently Asked Questions at the following URLs. http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/ http://automatedgenealogy.com/index.html Let's get the 1911 census finished! Looking for info about Alice Paul daughter of Robert Paul and Mary Emard. Robert died, and Mary wed Alfred (Jack) Herriott. In 1934, Alice married Fritz Fortier. The marriage didn't last. Alice wasn't heard from again. Any information would be greatly appreciated by Alice's daughter. Thank you --Dorothy
With snow predicted - at least in this area -- for the next few days, we might get a few more numbers added to present percentages. Some areas, like Prince Albert in Saskatchewan need a 1910 city directory -- hopefully data that can be read will match the addresses. This is the only way, on some pages, that the surnames will be known -- the printer seems to have dropped the ink over these! Present percentages:- ALBERTA ....................... 77.44% BRITISH COLUMBIA..... 78.70% SASKATCHEWAN.......... 86..54% CANADA = 96.68% With Spring here (?), it would be nice to have all pages transcribed by summer. Also, Senator Lorna Milne strongly suggests we let others in our areas know about the 55% YES for "informed consent question". We need the other 45% and I know in my city that many did not complete the census form because they could not read either English or French -- therefore could not contact the census hotline. I'm more than surprised that no one has stated what to me may be the obvious. There is a Vancouver Washington. It is in Clark County, in the south-west of the state, bascially across the river from Portland Oregon. There was no mention of Vancouver WA in the initial message from Karen, only the premice that the mother possibly went north to Vancouver BC. Toni ~ Ontario
