    1. [CAN-BC] THANKS re 1924 Marriage Information
    2. Dear Listers, Many thanks.. I now understand there are private researchers who will copy the BMD registrations for a fraction of the cost of other routes to this information. I very much appreciate the help with this! Sincerely, Joan :>)

    1. [CAN-BC] 1924 Marriage Information
    2. Dear Listers, I'm interested in getting the details of a 1924 marriage in BC. I've explored the gov't website but would like to confirm what I understand from the info given there. If I don't need an official certificate, is it best to borrow the appropriate microfilm of the marriage registrations in order to get all available information? Confirmation of this (or clarification) would be a big help, thank you. Sincerely, Joan :>) Nova Scotia

    3. If someone is going to the library or the archives, would you be so kind as to obtain a copy of the following death certificate? I am most interested in his parents names and how long he had been in Canada. This man lived with my grandparents most of his time in Canada, moving with them from Edmonton to Victoria in the mid 1950's. I believe I may have found his long lost family and need his death certificate to confirm. 2. muriel m davidson
    3. Copied from "The Milne Report - Spring 2007" On March 1, 2007 I introduced a bill with a series of proposed amendments to enhance the accountability and transparency of Canada's so-called "New" Government. In a speech in the Senate Chamber, I outlined the contents and purpose of Bill S-223, "An Act to amend the Access to Information Act". During my speech I said that I think it's time this government was accountable to its supporters and fulfill some of the promises it so painstakingly laid out in its election platform document entitled "Stand Up for Canada". In a small but important way, Bill S-223 will do that. Bill S-223 will remove the blanket of perpetual secrecy which the "Federal Accountability Act" has thrown over audit working papers. In addition, my bill will add a public interest override authorizing the head of a governmentinstitution to disclose information where it is clearly in the public interest to do so. Bill S-223 also removes the new secttion of the "Federal Accountability Act" that forces the Auditor General and the Commissioner of Official Languages to keep information obtained during an investigation or audit secret forever. I argues in the Senate that Bill S-223, if passed as I have outlined it, will commit this government to implement more of its election platform regarding the "Access to Information Act" than the "Federal Accountability Act" did. This bill will compel this government to put into law what they promised Canadians when seeking a mandate. If you would like to learn more about Bill S-223, please do not hesitate to visit Senator Milne's website www.se.parl.gc.ca/lmilne/ or contact in writing milnel@sen.parl.gc.ca Muriel M. 3. Setting up a free photobucket account is easy and takes about 1 minute. Here is a direct link to sign up. http://photobucket.com/register.php?link=topmenu After you join, you can upload pictures from your computer. You can make seperate albums if you so desire. Since you want to share your pictures you will probably want to make your album a public one. You can change it to private anytime you wish. Good luck.

    3. Could someone send Jim more detailed instructions on how to use Yahoo or Photobucket to display his photos online, please? I agree that the way we've been getting the information is not the best way for attracting people to see them & it would be great to have a place where they could be posted. For now, let's put a two week moratorium on this topic & hope that we can come up with a way to give the photos the "exposure" they deserve. 3. Good idea re setting up a site (Photobucket?). very interesting to many of us and probably fun to browse through. A site to actually browse through them would be great and cut down on the number of individual emails.

    3. I know a few people asked this previously but I do not recall seeing a response from Jim. Would it not be far more beneficial to the list if the pictures were just posted to a site were we can go and look at them rather than wasting bandwidth with descriptions of each picture scanned and having to quess based on the description if it is of intreast to us?
