    1. [CAN-BC] DO NOT OPEN ABOVE MESSAGE I DID NOT SEND IT!!!!!!!!!!!
    2. Norman Dawson
    3. Hi: DO NOT OPEN THE MESSAGE WHICH BEARS MY NAME!!!!! I DID NOT SEND IT. I just finished sending a message to the person who enquired about Frederick and saw this posting which bears my name. I did not send anything to the newsgroup. There is a link to a "GOOGLESEARCH" which I did not create. I believe it may link to a virus, but I am not sure. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Norman Dawson" <njdawson@home.com> To: <CAN-BRITISH-COLUMBIA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 10, 2001 6:22 PM Subject: Re: [CAN-BC] Todd http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=lang_en&newwindow=1&safe=off&q =%22Frederick+Todd%22+Vancouver (the above to be entered as one line into your browser) http://www.google.com shows a Frederick Todd as a Montreal Landscaper prominent in many areas of Canada during the early 1900s - other than that I don't have anything further. 3. To all:- I had three messages from Ann Wooley yesterday -- including the Me_nude one. All are BadTrans virus variations -- different names mean TROUBLE. Ann has been contacted by me -- sincerely wishes she would speak up, let us know what type of anti-virus equipment she has installed, and if she did a virus check. Also, her messages to me came from Post-1901 census memos sent to British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Ontario lists. Come on Ann -- you may not have sent the virus -- but your silence is not in your favour. 3. Hi everyone, I suspect that Ann doesn't know she has the virus, although I told her yesterday when I first got the "Take a look to the attachment" message. Maybe she's away right now. What I've done is unsubscribe her for now, so you can't get a message to her by sending it to the list. When I hear from her, I'll make sure she's cleared the virus and then I'll resub her. Here's the helpdesk response: That is a virus going around. It can not go through the lists as attachmnets are blocked. But the virus steals addresses from the infected computer and can make it look like it came from the list. You are safe on the list. I'll put a link below that may help. D. 3. Hi Muriel and all, It is quite possible that Ann Woolley - is not aware that the messages that have been sent - contain a virus. She may not be a person who checks her e mails daily - {my sister in law checks hers aprox every 2 weeks or so } and prior to her having an at home computer - her e mail was checked at work - but again, not every day. Being summer time - Ann may even be on Vacation - and unaware of any problem. I am sure that if she was aware of the problem she would contact the lists and persons that have been infected. The only other reason that I can see for her not being in touch is - if - she has received angry messages from people who have received the e mails -Some people can be very harsh - reprimanding her for something that she might not have any control over - and their messages angry enough - to frighten a person. Not every virus checker - catches every virus. My best friend works for a very large multi national company. A virus found its way into their system - and infected everything - They were supposed to be Well Protected with the most up to date virus checkers - An e mail from her - also infected my computer - again - we are very well protected -always updating.-but it got through. but was taken care of.. 3. Hi everyone, I'll check this out with Rootsweb but I think what's happening here is that the virus sends itself back to any address it has messages from, so it doesn't have to go through Rootsweb to get to you. If you sent a message to the list, the virus just sends a reply and it comes to you. This one is very obvious to me, as it always says "Take a look to the attachment"- the grammar error leaps out at me- the attachment's file name changes- one of mine said hamster.zip (much more polite than YOU_are_FAT!.TXT.pif). Because I have a Mac, most virus/worms don't affect me but if you have a PC, you should be sure to have an updated anti-virus scanner. I'll ask Rootsweb if they recommend changing the reply options so that they go to the list as a default, rather than to the sender. They had recommended that it be set up like this, so I'll see if they still do. 1. [CAN-BC] Surnames: Furry/Dionne/Stratford/Mayers/Plante
    2. Ellan
    3. New to the list, I am searching for the connection between Oliver and Ira Furry and the four people buried in Ira's cemetery lot at Fraser Cemetery in New Westminster.. Their names are Francois Plante, George Mayers, Caroline Mayers and Sarah Mayers. Oliver Furry was an early trapper and prospector who filed a mining claim on the land that would one day become the Jane/Britannia Copper Mine. Furry Creek along Howe Sound is named for him. Ira is the older brother who survived him and handled his estate. Ira once owned land on Bowen Island and married Lucy Dionne in 1876. Lucy and their daughter Louisa Jane died a few years later and all four are buried at Fraser as well, in unmarked graves, the lot still registered in Ira's name to this day. Were the Mayers family (Buried in 1946, 1965 and 1975) relatives or descendants? Neighbors, friends... a delightful mystery I would love to solve. I am the great grandaughter of Ira and Oliver's sister Louisa. Thanks, Ellan West

    1. [CAN-BC] Post-1901 Memo:-No BLUE for Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island

    3. To all:- A peek at the Member of Parliament Scoreboard for both Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island is very self-satisfactory -- my goal was to have one or more Atlantic Provinces become GOLDEN provinces will all elected Members of Parliament supporting Post-1901 Census Records release. See http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Score5.htm#NS and http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Score5.htm#PEI Frankly, I believe I just kept "bugging" the MPs until I received replies. Study the two provinces -- we now need to get rid of those unsightly pieces of FENCE -- for the ones whose answers neither say YES or NO. Should any of these MPs be the Member for your riding, please make a point of seeing him or her -- Gordon Watts likes posting answers. Also -- no RED X's for either province -- great!!! Saskatchewan could be the next one! Remember, the constituency e-mail address may be different than on the scoreboard -- I like to save things like that, so please send. Let's see if the new Scoreboard for Senators will look as good as the one for Members of Parliament -- I even had the Nova Scotian courage to ask Senator John Buchanan for a list of all UNLISTED Senators. (This is one of my personal gripes -- we pay them!) This is a challenge to all provinces -- keep Gordon busy and above all, keep those petitions going -- my mail-box is empty! Muriel M.
