    3. Changing my server by the weekend. My new address hopefully will be mmanson@telus.net. Anyone looking for lookups from the Revelstoke Pioneer's Book can email me there. My old address may last until the end of the month. By the way The Seniors Association is selling their Pioneer's of Revelstoke book for $20 instead of the usual $30. 3. Hi Joe Birth records are usually subject to a 100 year closure rule, It is sometimes possible, if the person has been dead for 20 years and you can produce proof of death, to obtain a Genealogical Certificate, for details see the site at http://www.vs.gov.bc.ca/genealogy/birth.html Otherwise you will need to wait until 2007/2008 when the records will be open to all ie: 100 years after the event See the indices at http://www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/textual/governmt/vstats/v_events.htm Regards David On Wed, 18 Jul 2001 19:06:27 -0700, Joseph E Wolfe wrote: >Hi: I am new to this list and doing research for a friend.\\ > >I would like to know if I can find birth records (probably from >Vancouver) for 1907 and 1908 or so...for someone who was passing >through..two children born there one approx.1908 and the other on 1 May >1907...He was definitely born in Vancouver. > >Or are there any census records available ...probably not helpful if >they were done in 0l or > >11 as the English census seems to have been. > >I have checked the St. Albans' list to see if I could find the father >coming back from Canada > >but to no avail....They (the family ) were in Seattle Washington before >and afer the above > >events. > >Any input or help will be greatly appreciated. >thank you in advance. >\Joe Wolfe >joeedwolfe@juno.com > > >==== CAN-BRITISH-COLUMBIA Mailing List ==== >To New Subscribers : The online indexes to British Columbia Vital Records are at >http://www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/textual/governmt/vstats/v_events.htm#indexes >These records are freely available and there are several possibilities for accessing them at a low cost. > >

    2. Joseph E Wolfe
    3. Hi: I am new to this list and doing research for a friend.\\ I would like to know if I can find birth records (probably from Vancouver) for 1907 and 1908 or so...for someone who was passing through..two children born there one approx.1908 and the other on 1 May 1907...He was definitely born in Vancouver. Or are there any census records available ...probably not helpful if they were done in 0l or 11 as the English census seems to have been. I have checked the St. Albans' list to see if I could find the father coming back from Canada but to no avail....They (the family ) were in Seattle Washington before and afer the above events. Any input or help will be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance. \Joe Wolfe joeedwolfe@juno.com

    1. [CAN-BC] New Vancouver Island Message Board
    2. Roxanne Moos
    3. Hello everyone, I just wanted to pass on the word that there is a new Rootsweb Vancouver Island message board that was just started on July 14th where you can post your queries on your Vancouver Island lines that you are researching as well as obituaries, biography, wills, etc. Previously there was no Vancouver Island message board with Rootsweb so you had to enter your queries on the general B.C. board. Now, with this new board your queries (and obits, etc) will be separate from the general board, which will make it much easier to locate your Vancouver Island relatives that you are researching. You will find this board located at: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam.canada.britishcolumbia.vancouver Roxanne _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

    1. [CAN-BC] Post-1901: We ALL Have a Senator in Our Areas!!!! Also MPs!!!
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- I generally do not hold a grudge or have a gripe -- but this is one many will also claim as their gripe. There are 96 Senators and all the BLUE ????? which mean NO ANSWER makes the computer screen look like the Atlantic Ocean. Would YOU believe:- EIGHT (8) are in favor of census release as follows:- ONE in each of the following: Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario (Lorna Milne) New Brunswick and TWO are saying YES in both Manitoba and Quebec Check http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Senscore2.htm#BC and http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Senscore3.htm#PQ MAJOR PROBLEM is the Senators prefer we not contact them. Should you know the e-mail address of YOUR Senator, presently given as N/A -- please send -- I will not tell where I received it or from whom. There are 82 with Blue ??? -- mainly due to lack of addresses. We pay them -- let's contact them!!! Muriel M. Davidson <davidson3542@home.com> Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee

    3. I found a NOT FILMED entry not long ago and I emailed to the address on this page (under frequently asked questions) http://www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/services/inquiry/faqs/vitalfaq.htm#nomicrofilm and just asked if there was anything I could to to get the record. She wrote back and asked for my snail mail and then mailed out a copy to me. I sent it off to someone who needed it and we were all happy! I imagine it doesn't always work out so well, but it's certainly worth asking. 1. [CAN-BC] Post-1901: A POSTER -- Suitable for Display With Petitions
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- Gordon Watts has put together a very colourful poster which may be printed with a colour printer. It would draw ATTENTION to Census Petitions when one is attempting to obtain signatures. I have this poster available and if you send me a note and ask for POSTER, I will forward it to you. Although an attachment, it has already been checked and safe. One would have to paste the poster on card for a good display. Muriel M. 3. Taryn Since there is a record of STANLEY groom that matches your family along with RICHARDS groom of 1910 in Vernon which shows as not being filmed, it's my guess that there is a problem with access to the original records for the vital events (give it time, I search repeatedly for months before getting my g-grandparent's marriage record) Search Results for Marriages Index: 1 Record(s) Displayed ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 1 Groom Name: JOHN OLIVER STANLEY Bride Name: ALICE RICHARDS Event Date: 1910 5 7 (Yr/Mo/Day) Event Place: VERNON Reg. 2. Taryn Jones
    3. Hello I'm a new subscriber with a lot of questions/interests, but I'll just ask one this time! :-) My great great aunt, Alice Richards married John Oliver STANLEY in Vernon in 1910. She died in Merritt in December of 1911, aged about 28, in childbirth. The child also died. I have found two articles about her death in the Merritt Herald, but have looked for her on the BC archives site and can not find a death for her or Baby Stanley! Was it mandatory to register deaths in small towns in 1911? I believe Merritt only gained "City" status in 1911....am I correct? Thanks! Taryn Jones Victoria

    1. [CAN-BC] Holley Resturaunt
    2. Well, we have moved to southern Texas and now I am ready to get with it again and see if I can really track down my Tekla Holley. First, almost as we were walking out the door of our other house, I received a copy of a death record and I have put it away so well, that I can't find it. I don't know who to thank for that effort, but it is much appreciated. It isn't lost forever, just for this moment. Now, I need a lookup and I don't even know where to look. Tekla and her husband John Holley, had a apparently well known resturant. I would very much like to know about that. It was located in Victoria, BC. Any direction will be appreciated. Thanx, Barb on the Texas Coast
