Hello, This is a long shot, but I am looking for information on an Eileen Phyliss Morrison born about 1916 at Hartney, manitoba and died about the 1960's possibly in Victoria, B.C. Any and all help greatly appreciated with my humble thanks. Sue.
Is there someone out there in B. C. that would do me a great big favour? I am trying to find descendants of Hugh Nelson McBride born abt 1870 and Edith Eamer born abt 10 Apr 1874 Ontario with children Hugh, George, Eileen, Grace Audrey McBride, I found a Hugh McBride listed on the B.C. death indes as having died 27 Jan 1961 Chilliwack B.C. Archive film B13250 and GSU -2033348 born 1892 Reg # 1961-09-002695 and George Nelson Mc Bride died 5 May 1976 Vancouver Death Reg # 1976-09-004519- BCA -B13350 and GSU- 2050532 and I am wondering if they are the sons of the above parents. The family states that Hugh jr moved to B.C. but they didn't know where. Is there anyway to do a look up of the registrations? If we know the reg numbers can on search the films and obtain a copy? Is there any way I could find out the parents names or if these men are related? Or does one have to send for a copy of the death certificate? Any and all help greatly appreciated with my thanks. Susan
Hi again Pat: I checked the birth and death registrations of the two boys but there were non listed in the B.C. Archives. Ken in Enderby
Hello Pat: I got to the museum this afternoon and I could not find any orbits. on the two boys but there are some on the other Dills. I could photocopy these for you and sent them as attachment if you want them. There was just one card which was written: Larry Dill died of colitis. could this be Lawrence? Bert Dill died of Meningitis. could this be Albert? No other writing on this card. There were some other info on the Dill's which I could copy for you and send on, if you want it. Please let me know. Ken in Enderby, B.C.
Carol: Well this may be no problem at all, as the will is certainly now at BC Archives. And the papers on the settlement of the estate are probably in BC Archives too, called a probate file, and filed separately according to the town in which the case was handled. If you have the WILL NUMBER, you just have to ask the staff to look it up for you on microfilm, and make a copy. Within their half hour time limit, they should be able to get the PROBATE FILE too, which could be interesting, as that file has MORE information, such as the names and addresses of all who benefitted under the will, at the date the estate was settled. You can ask them to copy only the pages that have genealogically useful information on them, or maybe you'd like the whole file, if you're curious about the assets of the estate. Check first to see how many pages are involved! The cost is just the cost of the copies, 40 cents per page if you get the pages reduced to 8 1/2 x 11" sized paper. Even if all you were given was the name of the TOWN where the will was probated, that will be useful if you want the PROBATE FILE. A few court registries around the province are rather lax about sending their old probate files to the BC Archives, but most probate files from that era, 1950, are transferred there by now. ALL WILLS up to 1981 are available at BC Archives. Just leave your request for the information you need in the electronic form at the bottom of the INQUIRIES page on BC Archives' website: http://www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/services/inquiry/accescom.htm (Be very specific and give them all the information you have on this will.) Or you can telephone them. Contact information is on the website. Good luck. Could someone do a look up for me ? Edwin Harris died December 3, 1933 at age 86 in Vernon, BC. Reg. number is 1933-09-477058, BC Archives Microfilm No. B13147, GSU Microfilm Number 1952658. Edwin and his family raised my grandfather, James, who was a British Home Child. Also, could someone look in the 1891 Vancouver, BC census for Edwin and family--wife, daughter Ethel approx. 17 yr old, and son James approx. 11 years old ? Lastly, could someone do a look up in th 1901 census for Edwin and wife, who would then be in the Okanagan area in Vernon, BC ? Son, James, who would be approx. age 21 may or may not be with him. Daughter, Ethel, would then be named MacKintosh--she, husband, and son might still be in Vancouver, BC. My grandfather later took back his birth name, James Blance, and all contact was lost with the Harris family. I would very much like to learn what happened to them. The only other things I know are that Mr. Harris was a builder and that my grandfathe! r, James Blance, managed a General Store in Peachland, BC approx.1906-1908. I would very much appreciate any help anyone might be able to give me. Thank you !
Hi Denise, Wish I could be of help. Sadly, it has been a long time since I was in school, my knowledge of my own Province - may be seriously lacking. I am not aware of Seaboard or Anne County. This information was from Ancestry.com ? I am not a subscriber - is there other information included - eg. name of contact person - one who submitted the information.? Is it possible that the letters VA may refer to records for the State of Virginia in the U.S.A. - is there any reference ? There is a Seaboard District - in Princess Anne County in the State of Virginia. U.S.A. ** Just in Case***** it is the 1870 Census for Virginia that you are interested in: Please see the following - there are volunteers who will search: http://www.freegenealogylookups.com/cd290.htm In Canada - our Census is taken every 10 years. I believe the first available for British Columbia - is 1881. I searched our B.C. Govt. Vital Stats - Deaths - 1872 - 1980. just so see of Jonathan Woodhurst would show - results 0. I searched our B.C. Govt Vital Stats - Marriages. 1872 - 1925 - 0 results. Just a question: Your surname is Botting. Have you been in touch with Jim Hill from Alberta Canada. ? He belongs to the Kent Engl List - as well as Sussex Plus - I don't know what others. He is researching the Botting Surname. Hopefully someone on this list - far more knowledgeable than I am - will be able to help in your quest. Hi All I'm hoping that SKS can do an obit lookup for me. I have found a family plot in the Enderby/Cliffside Cemetery, and in this family plot, there are 2 boys, aged 3 and 4, brothers, who died on the same day, August 15, 1913, and share the same headstone. These are the sons of an ancestor of mine, and since the boys died on the same day I am thinking there must be a story here. I am hoping that there was something in the local newspaper. The family name is DILL. Albert Gordon Dill Oct 30, 1910-Aug 15, 1913 (monument shared with brother) Lawrence Hallet Dill Aug 21, 1909-Aug 15, 1913. These boys were the sons of Edwin Blake Dill Aug 26, 1875-Feb 22, 1938 and Lottie Elizabeth Dill (name misspelled on headstone, reads Doill) died Aug 1964. Edwin and Lottie are buried in the family plot along with their sons. I would appreciate any help in finding out how these little ones died. Thank you Pat Ontario
Hi Pat: I am busy for two days and then I will take your letter down to the Enderby museum and see what I can come up with. I will also ask around town. Will get back to you soon Ken in Enderby, B.C.
