I have been asked by Senator Milne to appear before this Committee and am currently working like mad to prepare for this. Submissions and letters to the Senate Committee are welcomed from the public. If you are intending to seek the support of Committee members for this Bill that seeks to allow the public access to Historic Census Records that we want, and need, the time to do so is NOW!!!! Your assistance by writing members of the Committee, encouraging them to support Bill S-12 and to not drag out and further delay discussion and passage of the Bill, is requested. Likewise, signatures on petitions are required. We currently have received in excess of 20,000 signatures on petitions to the House of Commons and the Senate. It is not enough -- we need more. We must keep the pressure on our politicians to let them know that we do not intend to stop our efforts until we have succeeded in regaining public access to the Census records that belong to the people of Canada. Downloadable petitions on the Post 1901 Census Project website have just been updated with current provincial contacts listed. With your help we will succeed. Happy Hunting. Gordon A. 2. John and Gillian Rodie
    3. I am new to this list and am wondering if anyone would know how to get a list of the pioneers who came to Walhachin in the early 1900's to start fruit farming. My husband's grandparents - Edward and Edith Windsor - came about that time from England. Would anyone have information on this venture and the people who were involved in it? Thanks for any help you can give. Gillian Rodie, Nova Scotia

    3. Regarding the the Dixon, Tomlin and Rider marriages, they are all there on the Victoria City Archives website under the applicable section (Marriages - Obituaries). Quite often, it's well-worth also checking Victoria's Archive page as they have listed the reference newspaper articles for some marriages and deaths which were written up in Victoria papers, even though the event may have taken place in Vancouver. Their marriages go up to 1939, so it's another 14 years over and above the BC Archives site, which I believe ends at 1925 for marriages. I did send the information on to Grant Dixon, but for others searching, don't forget this fabulous site at Victoria City Archives for added information.

    3. Hello i was surfing through a drawer yesterday and happened to come across some info about my dad's side of the family, and thought i would share what i have found so far with you, perhaps this will help me find out more about my other family members,Relatives, and Ancestors with your help, if you can and or want to help me research my roots anything would be great appreciated thanks sincerely C Freethy My Gr Gr Gpa Edward Pannell-Quennel (Quennel is the last name he used to change his identity after jumping ship), was born on December 16th 1848 in Sussex England to Walter & Catherine Pannell, (Edward) then immigrated to Nanaimo British Columbia on September 1864 being when he (Edward) was 18 years old & in the Navy, Nanaimo's where he( Edward) met & had 3 children with Julie this all took place in 1870's and possibly had their last child in 1875 before he (Edward) married again in 1876 to Maria Biggs whom they had 10 children, which quite possibly among them my gr grandma Edith was born, so either julie or Maria may have been my gr gr grandmother ( I will find out), Maria's Father is John Biggs, so quite possibly Maria is my great great grandmother because my gr gr gr grandfather John Biggs was mentioned. so as you can see that I have used my great great grandfather's name on numerous occasions so that you know who i'm referring to, hope that's alright, I will research the Freethy, Martindale and Pemberton Lineage's after i have finished, and perhaps found all that i can find for now, i'm quite pleased that i have finally broken through, tore down, and destroyed the brick wall that has kept me from moving on.
