    2. Stella Stanger
    3. Hi Suzie, Usually I would be one of the people who would respond and offer do a search. We are in the process of waiting for the birth of my cousins first grandchild - so are staying very close to the telephone. I am sure there are many who can help. Perhaps contacting the New Westminster Public Library- would be helpful. Since it is just one lookup - I don't know if they index the current deaths - but - you do have the year - date - so should not be difficult for them to search. http://www.nwpl.new-westminster.bc.ca/ The following - Taken from the New Westminster Library -Genealogy Section:for another death (in 1950) Shows the information taken by the Funeral Home /Undertaker at the time that Funeral Arrangements are being made. This is the information that is then sent to the Govt Vital Events /Statistics departments - for the Death Registration. Basic information from this Death Registration is then extracted - and a Death Certificate is issued ( good for proof of the event - not enough info for Genealogy research). Note that this info from the Funeral Director - also includes info about funeral arrangement - pall bearers etc. which is not found on the Death Registration. http://www.nwpl.ca/bowell/bowell.php?operation=Display&id=3342 If no one is able to help - I can possibly do so - in the next few days. 3. Hello everyone Just re-posting my interests: JONES - Robert Whitney, b. 1916, s/o Charles and Elsie (WELLS) Jones. Lived in Richmond and Eburne area, d. 1970 or 1971 (can't remember which). Charles was superintendant of the Richmond Waterworks. After his death, Elsie remarried a Campbell. Elsie was a piano teacher. JONES - George - b. England in the 1870s, was Charles' brother. Never married. Had the first hansom cab in BC, rode around Stanley Park in it. He won the first Mr. BC Contest in the 1920s at the age of 55. Quite a bit of mystery surrounding him, as he seemed to have quite a bit of money. CORNEY - Henry/Harry Corney came to Canada from Kent, England in the early 1900s. Opened a bicycle shop in Duncan, married Beatrice Richards. Closed bicycle shop and left to join the 1st Canadian Pioneers in about 1916. RICHARDS - Alice, married John Oliver Stanley in Vernon. . Moved to Merritt, died giving birth to her first child in Dec. 1911. Child died also. I have all the information off the BC Archives, but seeking any connections with the above. Taryn

    3. Good Morning Corinne, Perhaps if you post - very basic information about who and where you are researching. the list members would be better able to help you. In August you posted re finding info about:- Edward Pannell -m Julie -Edward-m Maria Biggs dau. of John Biggs. In Sept - you posted a query re Pannell & Freethy families As well Martindale - Pemberton families. Are these the lines you that you are researching now. Depending on years - you can search Census, City Directories - the B.C. Vital Events for Births 1872 - 1900 - Marriages 1872 - 1935 - Deaths 1872 - 1980. http://www.rootsweb.com/~canbc/1901vic_cen/1901vic.htm In most cases it is best to start with yourself - and work back generation by generation. It is best to go one step at a time - it is very easy to get enthused and jump from one source to another - it only confuses in the long run. RESEARCH FORMS: - print the following forms - they will help you keep track of the information that you have researched, that way you will not be doing the same thing over and again. Keep a log of where you have searched - Who you have spoken to , makes life much easier. http://www.pbs.org/kbyu/ancestors/charts/ http://www.lifelinks.mb.ca/sampdata.htm http://www.lifelinks.mb.ca/illness_codes.htm You can research at the Latter Day Saints - Family History Centres - the volunteers can guide you to the sources of information you are searching for. There are volunteers at the following site: who may be able to help. depending on the information you are seeking. http://www.raogk.org/bcolumbia.htm http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/1285/hlCan.html#British%20Columbia http://members.home.net/vanislegenweb/lookups/bclook.htm http://web.city.victoria.bc.ca/archives/rossdir.asp In the Early 1940's we had the National Registration of All Canadians over the age of 16 years. This information is available - the cost $ 48.15 - refunded if information not found. http://www.tbaytel.net/bmartin/natreg.htm http://www.statcan.ca/english/IPS/Data/93C0006.htm You can search the National Archive Site - for various records: http://www.archives.ca/02/0201_e.html The Following Site - Is A Good Source Of Information On How To Conduct Your Research. http://www.saskgenealogy.com/researchtools/sgs_research_hints.htm http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Strawn/tips.htm At 12:12 AM 11/12/01 -0800, Corinne Freethy wrote: >Hello Fellow Listers i have quite a bit of Genealogy notes and recorded >info that i want to share but it's too long and i also would so much like >some help or tips on how to trace the names i have please help me i'm so >very interested but i'm being pulled in all directions and don't know what >road to travel down. > > >==== CAN-BRITISH-COLUMBIA Mailing List ==== >Visit the British Columbia Gen Web page at >http://www.rootsweb.com/~canbc/

    1. [CAN-BC] REMEMBRANCE DAY -- At Sunnybrook Veteran's Wings -- Toronto, Ontario
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- I have attended many Remembrance Day services, but the one at Sunnybrook Veteran's Wings this morning will be remembered for a long time. Veterans from both Kilgour and George Hees Buildings gathered in the Warrior's Hall and Annex, standing room only for many -- in the annex we watched the program on closed-circuit TV screens. Music by The Royal Canadian Legion Concert Band was used as a prelude and during the service. Boy Scouts and Girl Guides assisted other volunteers with wheelchairs. Rabbi Ron Weiss dedicated the memorial wreaths, after presentation of colours by Air Cadets of the 400 Tactical Helicopter Squadron. Many wreaths were presented, one on behalf of 105-year-old WWI vet and after the service these were taken by Air Cadets to the cenotaph. Chaplains David Howes, Tony Pablo and Gary Payne did the invocation, remembrance prayer and benediction. The address was by Lt. Arthur G. Plumb, resident of Sunnybrook, president of SWCHSC Veterans' and Community Residents' Council -- his speech made a deep impression on my grandson and granddaughter. Following the two minutes of silence, and during Reveille, a Spitfire circled Sunnybrook -- in remembrance. ------- This was my first service at Sunnybrook, as my husband only entered "the Sunnybrook family" March 26, 2001. Muriel M. Davidson <davidson3542@home.com> Brampton, Ontario After Nov. 22: <davidson3542@rogers.com>

    1. [CAN-BC] Post-1901 Census: Cross-Canada Blitz - BRITISH COLUMBIA
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- The voters of the province of British Columbia voted in 34 Members of Parliament -- but only 23 have listened to the ones who voted for them -- also pay their salaries. Voters are hoping for support and release of Post-1901 Canadian census records to complete family records. There are presently two Bills, S-12 in the Senate and C-312 has been drawn in the House of Commons. We request support of all -- on behalf of the British Columbia voters. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Score1.htm#BC At the left, under the names of the MP, will be their personal message board -- very enlightening -- shows how much the elected ones are doing for constituents. Some have not found time to reply to myself or others since 1999:- Mr. Jim Gouk <Gouk.J@parl.gc.ca> of West Kootenay-Okanagan has had letters -- does not follow the Canadian Alliance policy of census release. Ms. Sophia Leung <Leung.S@parl.gc.ca> is another one -- from Vancouver Kingsway, Liberal -- no replies since 1999. Philip Mayfield of Cariboo-Chilcotin <Mayfield.P@parl.gc.ca> is another one letting down his party's policy and his constituents. Werner Schmidt of Kelowna <Schmidt.W@parl.gc.ca> needs a few letters -- also not following the party policy. Randy White of Langley-Abbotsford <White.R@parl.gc.ca> needs to check on party policy and talk to constituents. The Hon. David Anderson of Victoria <Anderson.D@parl.gc.ca> was still answering letters in April, 2000 - mentioning the Expert Panel report "to be released" [denied by Brian Tobin]. The Hon. Herb Dhaliwal of Vancouver South-Burnaby requires some constituents to visit him on the weekend -- all letters to him receive a two-line automated reply -- but he takes his salary. The Hon. Hedy Fry of Vancouver Centre <Fry.H@parl.gc.ca> is Liberal, did reply to the 1999 letter from Global Genealogy. However, that sharpened picket fence must be uncomfortable! Stephen Owen from Vancouver Quadra, Liberal, elected Nov. 27, 2000 has replied <Owen.S@parl.gc.ca> Ted White made the scoreboard colorful with his RED X -- also from North Vancouver, Canadian Alliance -- he writes long letters which do not give the requested support. Joe Peschisolido of Richmond, BC, has been unable to reply since his constituents elected him Nov. 27, 2000. Very possibly all voters of VANCOUVER should visit the ones they elected to represent them in Ottawa -- many could be searching family histories or for lost family members. I have had good results since I started this Cross-Canada Blitz, some of which would surprise the ones listed above. Keep checking the URL given above -- Gordon Watts, from British Columbia, will be updating the scoreboard next week. Muriel M.
