Hi Shannah, The Address of Nunn and Thompson - D.E. Nunn , mgr. was listed as 10th Avenue and Cambie Street - I May have the wrong corner - in mind - but I believe that there is a Van City Credit union at the N.W. corner now - or possibly across the street - at the S.W. corner. The building no longer exists . The company may have moved to another location -merged with another company ,changed hands . I am going to check further. Cheers, Stella sstanger@sfu.ca Member, Canada Census Committee Hi Shannah, The following - has an e mail address - bottom of the > page. Contact them. Hello Pam, Following are some of the names I found at the B.C. Archives website. I really appreciate you doing these lookups for me. I live in the West Kootenay and rarely travel to the coast. There is no rush to do this. I've waited for years now, a bit longer won't matter! Please let me know the cost so I can reimburse you. Hi Shirley: Sorry no DUMMA surnames in St, Vital Cemetery. Lots of JOHNSON's but no Edward. Not in the Burnside Cem. in Portage la Prairie either. Sorry about that. Take care Ken in Enderby
Hi William Go to http://canada411.sympatico.ca/eng/person.html and search for Caissie There are 25 listings in British Columbia, 4 in Clinton, this is probably the one you want T & G Caissie 1640 Cariboo Highway, Clinton , BC V0K1K0 (250) 459 - 2040 Several of the listings are for locations [towns] near Clinton so the may be connected Regards David On Sun, 3 Mar 2002 16:46:57 -0800, William Jones wrote: >Dear list, > > I live in New Brunswick and although I belong to other lists, this is my first message to this one. > > I am trying to contact my grandmother's brother. Thank you to Claudia and Stella for the input! Some of those are great ideas! Ok, this is what I have. Felix did not set the fire deliberately, but fell asleep with a cigarette, no one was hurt, except the bird! He was a barber and lived at 2767 TURNER st. Then in 1917 he was the owner of the Empress Barber shop at 2638 PENDER ST E. After that, I have no clue. My grandmother remarried in 1923. In the BC ARCHIVES vital stats, there is a Felix Lewis that died in 1951, but unfortunately, this is not mine! This was an italian family. Could anyone tell me what became of the Empress barber Shop? I appreciate all of your help! Thanks again, Liz
I have a strange situation. my family has always been told that my grandfather burned the house down which made my grandmother flee from it with only my mother in her arms. We think this would have been about 1916 or 1917. They lived on Turner st in 1915, where he was a barber. How would one go about finding this to be true? His name was Felix Curtis Lewis and his wife was Mabel.
Hello William, I am sending you the information through your private email so that their phone number is not listed. Hope you get this all right, let me know if not and I will send it again. Liz

Dear list, I live in New Brunswick and although I belong to other lists, this is my first message to this one. I am trying to contact my grandmother's brother. His name is Telesphore Caissie. His wife's name is Gertrude. When we last had contact with him he lived in Clinton, B.C. I thought there might be a slim chance that someone on this list might live near him or know of how I might obtain his address. Thanks very much, William Jones
Thank you to all those Kind Souls who responded to my queries. I will get the archival information I have on the Barkley's and submit it tomorrow, Pam. Thank you Stella for the information you sent. Lesley
Hi Ines, I'm not sure were you live, check if you local library has a copy of the Henderson's City Directory. If you can find the directory for Vancouver for the year you are searching, it should have all the info you are requesting. You might find that information in a Vancouver City Directory. If SKS is going to the library and would be so kind as to look up the occupants of the following address from 1939 it would be greatly appreciated. 729 Hamilton Street, Vancouver. It is believed that an AJ Lidgate lived there at that time. Regards, Diana, San Diego, CA Researching LIDGATE
Hi all, Got some more information on my husband's BOXALLs and I am stuck again - that seems to be a permanent state of affairs. Through an obtituary I found out that my husband's great grandmother had 3 daughters, not 2, big surprise. All I know is that her married name was FERGUSON, the obit says Mrs. J. Ferguson. So I am assuming that her husband was J. Ferguson. According to my mother-in-law he owned a bakeshop close to VGH. According to my husband, who knows from his father, it was on Broadway and ????. Here is my question. Is there any way of finding out the name of this bakeshop and the owner's name. I am pretty sure that this Mr. Ferguson owned it. I have no idea when it got sold, but he owned it in 1946 when my parents-in-law got married. I need to find his wife's name and any children. Have a nice weekend all, Ines
Hi everyone, Could someone tell me how I would order a marriage certificate for some ancestors who married 1892, Victoria,BC? Kind regards, Gloria
Dear Listers, I'm looking for descendants of my mother's cousin, whose maiden name was Cecily HATCHER. She was born about 1915 to Thomas and Annie HATCHER, who emigrated to Canada from UK. They lived in Sturgeon Creek, Manitoba and Thomas served with Fort Garry Horse in WW1 until he was killed in 1918. Annie remarried to someone called WARBURTON (?). Cicely lived at Princess Ave, North Lonsdale, B.C., in 1930, and I believe she trained as a dietitian or nutritionist, possibly at Winnipeg. She apparently married a medical doctor, who may have been of Dutch descent. My mother's name, by the way, is Joan Lavinia BRADLEY, nee HATCHER. If anyone can help, I shall be most grateful. Yours hopefully, Maureen Durrant.
