    1. [CAN-BC] Ontario vitals
    2. Hello: Although off topic for a BC list, there were some queries regarding Ontario vitals. The 1903 and 1904 births have been released for Ontario. I was in Salt Lake in October and had no problem obtaining these registrations. The only problem was that they weren't in the drawers in the main library, but staff (knowledgeable ones, that is), simply order the films from the vault and then they remain in the drawers in the main library. 3. Yes, on whatever the date is the LDS will put the film out on their shelves in Salt Lake City and will then allow we folk in the hinterlands to bring copies of the films into our local LDS centers. The LDS will send a notice to the local directors advising them when they films will be available. Just a reminder we are talking about Onatrio b Birth, Marriage and Death Indexes and Registrations. 3. Hi, I have an Ontario Birth registration that I found on the Index film in the FHC here in Calgary but when I tried to find the number for the Salt Lake Film they didn't have that page in their binder with the rest. I phoned Salt Lake Library and after talking to about 8 people before I found one who knew what I was talking about she said to go into their Library catalogue on their site and search by the film number that was on the Index . Well it came up alright but said that the film of the registrations was not available. So I would say that is probably what they mean but what I can't figure out is why if the Index is available why the Registration Film isn't available there. Aren't they the ones who put the Index film into the Family History Centres? I believe the 1903 Index film number had the same notation beside it. I would like to know too before I bother sending for this photocopy. 1. [CAN-BC] BC 1981 deaths
    2. Hello: I tried to obtain a copy of a 1981 B.C. death registration from the LDS in Salt Lake City by using the photoduplication service, but was told I could not get this because of copyright regulations. I use this service all the time and have never had a problem before. According to the BC Vital Stats website 1981 deaths has been released and it gives the LDS film numbers but you can't get these from Salt Lake. Has anyone had a similar experience or has any explanation of this. Thanks. John marquis@powersurfr.com

    2. Gordon A. Watts
    3. Greetings All. Files for updating the Post 1901 Census Project Website (at the URL following my signature) have just been sent and should be loaded to the server within a few days. These files bring the Hansard extracts, in both english and french languages, of Senate Debates relating to Census and Bill S-12 up to date as of 21 March. The next pages to be updated, aside from the MP and Senator Scoreboards, will be those for the Hansard extracts of Debates in the House of Commons. Other recent additions to the website have been pages relating to our Application for a Judicial Review in the Federal Court, the Town Hall Meetings, my Critique of the so-called 'Compromise Solution', and links to subscribe to the Canada Census Campaign mail list. On 15 March 2002 I sent an Access to Information Request for the Environice Research Report on the Town Hall Meetings and Focus Groups held in December and January. I received confirmation of receipt of my request on Wednesday, 20 March. Statistics Canada has 30 days in which to respond to my request. By law, they must either provide the Report, or if they intend to publish it within 90 days they can refuse my request. On Wednesday as well, I was advised that Professor Bill Waiser of the University of Saskatchewan, and one of our plaintiffs in the legal action, has submitted his own ATI request for the Environics Report. 3. Hi Folks: I'm researching the IRONSIDE family. John Ironside married Jane RAE c. l848, Udny Parish, Scotland, before coming to the Lambton Co. area of Ontario. I just located an Agnes Ironside Rae on the BC Death Index. Info is as follows: died l903 Feb.12, 6l yrs, Vancouver. Reg. #l903-09-119354 BC Archives B13094 I'm not sure what information is on the l903 death records, but I would be interested in seeing if there is any connection. Could someone do a lookup for me? - no rush at all. Also when I did a RAE search, 382 records appeared - are there any Rae's on the list? Any information is appreciated. Cheers, Norma, Ont.

    3. The 1930 US Federal Census will be released on April 1. It consists of more than 2,600 rolls of microfilm covering over 137 million individuals. It contains information on the usual -- names of all persons living in each home; relationship of each person to the head of household; whether the home is owned or rented; place of birth; citizenship status; and occupation -- but also some socio-economic info, such as the value of the home; if the family owns a radio; if they own a farm; whether they attended school or college; if they can read or write. MyFamily.com promises to have some images from the 1930 census online within "hours" of the release, and the entire 1930 census online within three months, Ancestry.com is also going to be posting it as well.
