Hi Listers I am trying to locate my grandfather's death, and one of the two men below may be he. I live in Toronto Ontario and my grandfather was born near Brussels in Huron County Ontario before he abandoned his family and headed west in the late 1930's or early 1930's. We now believe that he may have changed his name to that of his dead father (as per below), so that his wife would have problems tracking him for support payments. If someone could possibly view these two records and advise the respective listed birth date, the parents' names on each death record and the birth location, I would really appreciate the help. Many thanks Deb 1. BC Vital Event Death Registration Name: Alexander Forsyth Event Date: 1974 10 14 (Yr/Mo/Day) Age: 83 Gender: male Event Place: Penticton Reg. Number: 1974-09-015510 B.C. Greetings All. The House of Commons of Canada resumed sitting on Monday 31 January and the Senate resumed sitting on Tuesday 1 February. While Senate debate on Second Reading of Bill S-18 is on the daily Order Paper, and will remain there until it has been dealt with, no further debate on the Bill took place at this time. Bill S-18 remains adjourned in the name of Senator Noel Kinsella and until he speaks to the Bill or withdraws from it, no further progress will be made. The Honourable Senator Kinsella was in the Senate Chamber yesterday and spoke to other Bills. However, he made no effort to resume debate on Bill S-18. We continue to hope that he will resume debate on Bill S-18 as soon as possible. In the mean time it is important to continue seeking the support of our Parliamentary Representatives and to collect signatures on our petitions. Happy Hunting. Gordon A. Hi there I am looking for any information on EILEEN SCHRAM and/or ELAINE SCHRAM as to whom she may have married and/or if she had children. Eileen and Elaine may be the same person. EILEEN/ELAINE SHRAM was daughter to GASTON PRUDENT SCHRAM 1898-1938 and ELEANOR BLANCHE LANGDALE b. 1898. In 1938 in her father GASTON SCHRAM'S obit she is listed as daughter EILEEN SCHRAM. In 1944 in her grandfather ALFRED LANGDALE's obit she is listed as daughter ELAINE SCHRAM. I have tried in vain to find a death for EILEEN/ELAINE SHRAM's mother ELEANOR BLANCHE LANGDALE on the advanced search on the BMD vital site. I am also unable to find Eleanor's death. On the advanced search I have used just ELEANOR BLANCE as the forenames. thanks for reading this Judy in BC
I found my dad's class photo from Langley High for 1942-43. It is Grade 10b. If anyone wants a scan of it, let me know. Annette

I just learned of a 6th child for Annie Kerr JOHNSTON (1894 - 1961) & Peter KERR (1881 - 1954) through an obit. kindly obtained for me through RAOGK. They had a daughter Betty (likely Elizabeth) KERR who was still living upon her mother's death in 1961, but was absent from obits. after 2001 - I know that's a big gap! She was living with her mother on Triumph St., Vancouver in 1961, aged perhaps 40ish? Also, I just learned that one of Peter KERR's brothers came to Canada, from Scotland, as well & was still living in 1954. The other sons of Donald KERR & Margaret WATT were John KERR b. abt. 1866, Duncan KERR b. abt. 1868, Donald KERR b. abt. 1871 & Andrew KERR b. abt. 1878. I looked for deaths for the above on the BC Archives site, but got nowhere. Wondering if anyone sees something I missed? Thanks so much! To all:- Within a few days will be the 60th anniversary of the end of Auswitch, and other happenings of World War Two. RootsWeb Review has posted a great site in the 26 January 2005, Vol. 8, No. 4 issue -- as follows ======= Displaced Persons For those researching German, Austrian, Italian, and French displaced persons after World War II. http://www.dpcamps.org/ ========= I searched (1) for a lady in a Displaced Persons camp -- found her name, she had been brought to Dartmouth, NS by a school and families. One former POW is living in Queens County, he had been a crew member of a U-boat at the age of 14. This is another source for searching for lost ones. Muriel M. This is for the male Weir family members, to find out to which Weir group they have come from in our World. Female Weir descendants do not pass on the Y Chromosome of their father, so cannot do the test. Their brothers and father or male cousins with the surname of Weir can contribute. However, the female descendants could contribute monetarily for one of their branch to have their DNA tested to aid the whole family group or branch. In Canada, a Rural Route refers to a Postal delivery route, in a country setting outside of Cities. Usually mail was delivered by horse, cart or now vehicle, like a car or van.
To Richard Chan - MP, Richmond, BC To date I have yet to hear from you re the release of the 1911 census records, with Bill S-18 presently in the Senate. I notice you are newly-elected and should there be another election, it might be found the ones searching for missing family members will remember your lack of reply. Will you be in favour of the release of 1911 and later census records and vote in favour of the passage of Bill S-18? It is a government bill -- and as a Liberal, you should be supportive. Looking forward to YOUR reply -- do not bother to forward letter to someone else -- we have heard from them. Muriel M. Carol I see you have been given lots of excellent advise on where to look in Vancouver and Surrey. I use the Main Vancouver Library downtown a lot and as was mentioned it can be busy, so I have a few tips on making the best of your short time. When you first enter the library you will see a row of booths on the right hand side were they sell copier cards. I highly recommend buying one - you can buy as much as you want. The copier card can be used on the micro film reads, as well as photo copy machines. Saves having to pack a lot of small change and having the machines spit half it back out at you! :-) In the area of the library were the B/M/D and directories micro films are held there are only two microfilm reads. If they are being used you are allowed to take the films to another floor were you will usually find lots of film readers empty. I usually print off a list of what films and cert numbers I want before going to the library so I can quickly take the films I want with me to another floor without having to go up and down more than once or twice. I recommend using the micro film readers in the area were the newspapers micro films are kept (one floor down? or is it up!) so you can look up an obit to go along with the death cert. The library has Ancestory.com as well. Have fun! A day goes by quickly there! But travel time from Vancouver - by bus - takes up so much time -[at least a few years back] with transfers etc.-that one looses a lot of research time . I would like to thanks everyone for their responses! I am trying to organize all of my info before I go so that it will be easy to figure out what I want to look up! I was in Vancouver and Victoria 2 years ago, but did not do any searching as it is hard to explain to family that you haven't seen in years that you want to go sit at the library and walk around cemeteries, as well as visit with them! I am glad to hear that the libraries around have good genealogical resources. I don't think I am going to have time to get to Victoria, though..but things may change. If so - this information is available - but probably only through the Archive *their costs for copies - has gone up greatly - but - if you can visit Victoria - or - find a Volunteer at the RAOGK - it will only be whatever the copy machine charges are. per page. .Copies at the Archive were .20 cents per page at one time. You might want to visit the Provincial Court House in Vancouver - They may have resource to search for wills. Hi Carol, I can't help out with your question as to where to search and copy records while in Vancouver as I live on Vancouver Island, but I just want to let you know there is no need to go the expensive route when ordering BMD records from the B.C. Archives site. Go to RAOGK at: http://www.raogk.org/bcolumbia.htm where a volunteer will get the copies for as little as the charge of photocopying and possibly mailing and parking. Failing that the next choice is Don Crawfords site at: http://members.shaw.ca/copies/ where you can get copies for $4.00 CDN. each. I have no interest in Mr. Crawfords site except as a very happy customer. I use his service quite often and if you e-mail him your request, then put your cheque in the mail, the turnaround time is much faster. Best of luck in your research, and do enjoy your time in Vancouver. Cheers, Bridget in B.C.
