    3. Thanks to all for their responses to my query, however my interest was in regards to the **1918** registration rather than the 1940. I have had good success with the 1940 file in the past and if it were not so expensive to access a file, I would order many more files. Thanks kindly. Cheers, -- Laury Walkey (Miss) BC, Canada

    3. You are very fortunate to have your great grandmother's registration card for WW1, which was taken in June 1918. Those records were destroyed by the government. You can find out more about the 1940 National Registration of Canada at http://www.collectionscanada.ca/genealogy/022-907.006-e.html Laury Walkey wrote: > > I've come across a Canada Registration Board card for my > great-grandmother which registered her for "national purposes of Canada" > in 1918 at her residence in Three Hills, AB. > > I wondered if this was a similar program to the National Registration of > 1940 and if these records were also available for genealogical purposes? > > Thanks kindly. > > Cheers, > -- > > Laury Walkey (Miss) > BC, Canada

    3. Hi Marg, In 1918 - there was also a Registration - for National Purposes - I believe that is the one that Laury is interested in. I believe that these - records - may not be available. 3. Good Afternoon List, I have noticed a few messages looking for copies of death certs. May I suggest the services of Don Crawford at http://members.shaw.ca/copies (copies@bccopies.ca). It was recommended to me to use his services (thank you B.Watson) and I have found it very quick and most importantly, reasonably priced (last time was $4Cdn per cert). Don will also get copies of birth and marriage certs and I have gotten him to loook for an obit for me as well. I have no connection to Don's service, just a satisfied customer. 3. Malcolm, I can add a little to the previous message, which gave some excellent details from the BC Archives. I am curious as to how you fit with this family. James Marsdin L. ALEXANDER, born 7 Nov 1841 in Scotland (1901 Census), worked with the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC), ranked as high as a Chief Factor, according to the OGDEN Family in America, a book now available online at: http://contentdm.lib.byu.edu/cdm4/document.php?CISOROOT=/FH4 <http://contentdm.lib.byu.edu/cdm4/document.php?CISOROOT=/FH4&CISOPTR=54660& REC=8&CISOSHOW=50386> &CISOPTR=54660&REC=8&CISOSHOW=50386 He also married well with Sarah Julia OGDEN, the daughter of Chief Trader, Peter OGDEN, and Phrisine BRABANT. Peter OGDEN was the son of the more famous Peter Skene OGDEN and Marie COMTOIS (most of his siblings had Julia RIVET for their mother). You will have little difficulty finding some information about this latter OGDEN. Sarah Julia OGDEN was born in 1854 at Stuart Lake. This is where you might now find the community of Fort St. James on a map (or Google Earth). I likely have some of the papers that you are looking for but it might be a couple days before I can get to see which ones I do have, and to scan them. Hope it will help. Mark Huston

The films are in numerical order. There are now 3? film readers in that area. I am helping a young mom - with her very busy 18 month old - so don't get out - I don't drive - and transit is difficult with this little one. Perhaps the LDS - in Calgary - may have the films. or Conact Random Acts of Genealogical kindness - B.C. - Any who offer Lookup of Public record - and view, transcribe or copy the info. They don't have to be in Vancouver. If no one can help - and you are not in a rush - I may be able to get into town - but not till 7pm or later - depends on Mom. this is a new job etc Cheers, Stella At 07:37 PM 10/25/2006, Carol Lylyk wrote: >Would the death registration of someone who died in Westwold be >found in the local Vancouver library?
