    3. Hi Sharon, Have you posted in Alberta? Was your Grandfather - and his sister born in Alberta ? In Red Deer or vicinity? Is your grandfather still living ?? If not - is was an obituary published? There may be some mention of his sister and husband - perhaps even reference to the Olympic swimmer. When did ? BROWN - pass away? Perhaps knowing that would give you a lead -to finding an obituary - or a news story about the death - where? Searching the Alberta GenWeb Alberta Local History Books - name ROLFE - finds the following: ROLFE, Henry ; The Little Village That Grew; Red Deer There is a Volunteer - Shirley - who owns or has access to the book The Little Village That Grew. 1. Re: [CAN-BC] FORSYTH birth please
    2. Stella Stanger
    3. Hi Linda - Birth Registrations - are public record to 1903.- anyone can view - transcribe or copy this information to this date. At one time births became Public Record in the 101st year after the event - this has now been extended to the 121st year after the event. Anything after that - is Private Information. only available to a very few - The individual, the parents, the spouse or common law spouse - and children. lawyer * not even a very close older sister can obtain this information [from experience], If it can be proven that this person - has been deceased - for 20 + years - the birth registration - may be made available - to some. This would be from the Govt of B.C. Vital Statistics Dept - the cost in the $50 + Cndn. The Govt Vital Statistics office will only search a few years either side of a given year. The son is shown as Arthur on the Death Registration? He is the informant? -what is the address shown? Searching the Online White Pages Directory My Telus.com http://www.mytelus.com for Ross FORSYTH - finds 4 listings for R. FORSYTH in British Columbia., Burnaby, North Vancouver,Smithers B.C and Victoria B.C There is 1 listing for Arthur FORSYTH - in British Columbia - in Delta B.C Am Obituary - if one was published -it may show names and locations of other family members Cheers, Stella At 10:14 PM 11/3/2006, Linda Walch wrote: >Hi >I am searching for a birth entry for an Arthur? 3. I found three in the Nanaimo Cemetery records - Elizabeth and daughters Annie Susan and Elsie H. Zelley. The H stands for Hope. William J S Zelley died in 1900, and his partial name can be found but recorded as WIlliam ZELLY. Not listed, but maybe incorrectly recorded was the death of Herbert John ZELLEY. Young Herbert died in Nanaimo when a tree fell on the house (1897). 3. The Canadian Passengers lists 1865-1922 are online at the Library and Archives Canada http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/passenger/index-e.html . The database includes digital images of the passengers lists but they are not searchable by surname, just port, date or ship. Although the dates 1865-1922 is given in the title, not all Canadian Ports include those dates as you will read in the introduction.

    3. Hi: Some of the vital records you may be looking for, according to the dates you mentioned, are too recent to be available to the Public due to our privacy laws. BC Vital Events, bmd's, look on the left to see what years are available to the pubic: http://www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/textual/governmt/vstats/v_events.htm#indexes Search for textual records, including wills & probates: http://www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/textual/general/textual.htm A reputable person who will get reg's, obits, etc for a reasonable cost: http://www.bccopies.ca/ 1901 census index and 1911 partially-completed index: www.automatedgenealogy.com The 1911 census is the most recently released one. 1921 won't be released to the public for some years yet, abt. 2013 as they are supposed to be released 92 years after the census is taken. 1881 census at www.familysearch.org Canadian Genealogy Centre at the National Archives, databases: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/genealogy/022-500-e.html Some but not all BC cemetery records here (index): http://www.islandnet.com/bccfa/homepage.html Vancouver's Mountain View Cemetery: http://www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/commsvcs/nonmarketoperations/mountainview/burials/burials.htm Some BC Municipal Cemeteries: http://vancouver.ca/commsvcs/NONMARKETOPERATIONS/MOUNTAINVIEW/bcmcn/ BC GenWeb main page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~canbc/ Nanaimo Family History Society passenger list indexing project: http://members.shaw.ca/nanaimo.fhs/ BC Genealogy Society: http://www.bcgs.ca/ and I'm sure there are many more sites, type British Columbia genealogy in to your search engine to find more sites.
