Hi, I've scanned yet another page with photos of the Capilano Suspension Bridge in 1913, a Sheep Creek cabin in winter, and rail yards at Nanaimo. As always if you're interested, I can send you copies of these scans. Jim Bundy
I am searching for descendants of Donald Ross FERGUSON who as of 1967 was a resident of Vancouver. He was born about 1910 probably in South Africa to James Burne FERGUSON and Grace Edith BELL. His sister was Mrs. Donald MARCHANT of Oliver. Merry Christmas, Colin Ferguson
Hi, I've scanned a page from an old album. Most were taken at Stanley Park in 1913, 1 with Granddad in a rowboat at Loughborough, and 1 of my grandmother with chickens, not sure about that one for location. In the winter months in many years, my grandparents lived in Vancouver, seeking employment out in the Interior at other times of the year. This happened more, of course, after Dad was born in 1921. In the earlier years they did spend many winters out at work locations also. I'd be happy to share them with anyone interested. Jim Bundy
HI, I just scanned an old photo of a cabin labeled as "Burquitlam". I wonder if that's all that was in Burquitlam in those days. If so, it sure has changed, according to my web searches. :) As always I'd be happy to share a copy of the scan with anyone. Jim Bundy
Hi, I just scanned an old picture of this lake. I'm thinking another photo I have is of the area before the lake reservoir existed. Its a bit faded, but you're welcome to a copy if you'd like. Jim Bundy
Hi Janice Not that line as far as I know but can you narrow it down to where in England Geraldines father was Rev. Edw. Newton Dickenson 1818-1882 and I know of no William George going back to 1743 to Edward Dickenson although his brother Thomas had several sons and he had uncles. Newport Salop (shropshire) & Sts. also William Dickenson bro of Edw 1743 above was in Birmingham a banker & spirit dealer. Edw. 1743 was a partner of Sir Robert Peel and lived in Drayton Bassett Sts. See if you can get a place of birth or parent of William let me know Regards mary

Hello.....I received this message below from a friend regarding Jim Bundy's photo collection and would dearly love to hear from him. I am a director with the Friends of Barkerville and feel some of the pictures he has would be of great value to have for Barkerville and Quesnel area. I did send him an email but have had no response from him. I wondered if you knew how to reach him?? Thankyou for your time. Hello, I wish to thank all who replied to my e0-mail. I have followed up on many of the suggestions and feel that I have now found a likely candidate for the person I was looking for. Thank you, Mary Swank
ONTARIO seems to be "stuck" at one percentge point so did some checking for problem spots. I found several and remember, not only people from Ontario may transcribe from the images. http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/ One does not "volunteer" but must Sign In with email address as userid and with a personal password. Before starting on transcribing even one line, please note Frequently Asked Questions (under completion) -- these should be read. Problem spots in Ontario are:- Hastings West - 92.35%; Nipissing - 88.84; Toronto East - 86.27% Toronto West - 74.73%; with Ontario's percentage 97.93% Check on OTTAWA -- only Byward has 3 pages claimed 2009-09-04 The other area in Ottawa is District 31 - Ottawa ward, Ottawa, including Rawdon Townshp. Sidney and 3 Belleville districts. Across the country we see Alberta - 52.3%; British Columbia 61.63%; Manitoba 88.11%; Quebec 83.33% and Saskatchewan 59.03. After checking many of the pages, try claiming at 49 lines (just a suggestion) as many have been claimed with 1 or 2 lines transcribed. Also, if writing is poorly, someone else might be able to finish the page -- We had better watch out for Manitoba, also Quebec!!! Muriel M. Davidson muriel_davidson@sympatico.ca Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee Brampton, ON P.S. Do not forget MY PAGES and CORRECTIONS posted below the names of provinces -- I have started some, but will try and finish before I am again computerless!!! Trying to save family history, and finding out which programs accept PAF 2.31!
Hi Listers, I just finished scanning this one, a set of 14 photos re the mining in and around Ainsworth BC, now a ghost town, except for the Hot Springs. One of these photos shows the hot springs as they looked before the pools were built, etc. Some nice winter shots, and Kootenay Lake steamers. Let me know, and I'll be glad to send you the scans. My grandparents cooked here too. Jim Bundy
I need some help finding a resident of Logan Lake. Is anyone on the list living in Logan Lake? Bonnie in California
Hi Jim, I know the cemetery you are talking about and Ked is right about seeing the only two ways out. However, slight exaggeration on the amount of rainfall - only 166 inches per year and then six feet of snow on top of that. Hi, That';s what the picture I just scanned looks like to me, and it may have been taken from the small cemetery there. A good family friend of ours at Ocean Falls, Ked Pack, who, with her husband Harry, introduced my parents to each other over bridge games, once said that if she stood in the cemetery and looked down Dean Channel, she could see the only 2 ways out of Ocean Falls. :) Its sure a beautiful place when its not raining (which isn't very often, 200 inches per year) Jim Bundy
Hi, I have a picture of a mountain in my collection without any note, may be around Salmo, just don't know. Would anyone like to take a crack at it? I'll be glad to send a small scan of it. Jim Bundy
Hi, Before responding to them individually, I'd like to publicly thank Stella, Gary, and Louise for all their helpful comments re the set of photos I scanned yesterday. I took Dad up to Vancouver last year, especially the West End where he and his parents lived in a series of boarding houses, all gone now. I hadn't been there for a while myself, and couldn't believe how its changed in just the last 10 years! Dad can't remember now being there last year, but he did enjoy that day while we were driving around. As is usual with his type of condition, Dad has clear memories of long ago, his years at Lord Roberts El, King George High, UBC, etc, in addition to helping his parents during summers spent out in the province cooking, he as kitchen helper or "flunky". Jim Bundy
My thanks to Stella, Gary, and Louise for volunteering to help identify this batch of photos. Some of them were noted, but even then the meaning isn't clear on some of them. I lived in Vancouver and North Van from ages 3-6, and spent my first grade in 3 schools, Capilano El, then a city school in Texas, and then a very rural school in Texas. The language was difficult for me at first in Texas, and the society was VERY different. I remember that February they were always talking about some guy named George Washington, and I remember asking my mother about him. :) But, almost every year we spent vacation time up in the Vancouver area, and I remember those long drives from Texas to Vancouver well (no air conditioning, 3 kids in the back of a VW beetle). We always made time for Stanley Park when we were visiting. At age 12 I flew up to Vancouver alone for the summer, and had a great time with my grandparents, aunt, and family friends. I've always felt quite at home in the Vancouver area, and our few trips out in the province. I have a long list of BC places that I'd still like to visit in future. I'll have more photos to share later. I hope to start digging out the old family steamer trunk soon, full of family stuff that was stored there over many decades, after the trunk helped move my Mom's parents from Glasgow in 1913. Jim Bundy
