    1. [ROCKY-MOUNTAIN] Headley Shepherd Moore
    2. Trish Smith
    3. Dear List I am hoping to trace any descendents of Headley Shepherd MOORE. Headley was born in Darwen, Lancashire England in September 1873. He married Agnes Ellen JAMES in Ontario and died in Cranbrook BC in August 1962. My grandfather was his first cousin. According to a family letter written in 1923 Headley had moved to British Columbia and was connected with the Forest Mill lumber firm. By this time he had 7 sons and 3 daughters. From the Ontario 1911 census amongst these were Henry Headley Moore born June 1902, Frank Headley Moore born September 1903, John Shepherd Moore born March 1906, Ralph Moore born February 1908 and Margaret Moore born November 1909. Thanks to a fellow lister who contacted me in September 2006 I also believe that his youngest son was called Thomas Edward Moore. I would be very grateful if anyone could provide me with more information about this branch of my family. My own father who died in 2000 was also called Headley Moore (The unusual spelling of Headley is due to it being the surname of his great grandmother) and coincidentally was born in September and died in August. Merry Christmas and a very happy 2009 to all fellow listers Tricia (nee Moore) Brighton, Sussex, England

CHARLES LAFLEUR died March 9, 1894 in Deux Rivieres, Ontario and CATHERINE MAHON LAFLEUR married AARON SWEEZEY August 17, 1895. He died May 1, 1902 in Pembroke, Ontario. CATHERINE MAHON and several of her children eventually relocated to Cranbrook, British Columbia. I have information on some of the descendants of these children but would be very interested in finding information on the others. I am the great grand daughter of CHARLES LAFLEUR and CATHERINE MAHON. 1. [ROCKY-MOUNTAIN] Christmas queries.
    2. Murray Pletsch
    3. Dear Folks: 1. It will become a Christmas tradition on the lists I administer, to allow subscribers to send a query on the ancestor or family they are researching. Some may call this practice a Roll Call. I call it "looking for information on our ancestors"....!!! * We subscribed to the list to hopefully find ANY reference to the family we are researching. Therefore it is logical that we post the known information on our ancestor and make a query to the list members on the information being looked for, to further our database along. * 2. Some of these mailing lists have been in operation for almost 10 years and recently they have died off for whatever reasons. Hopefully this Christmas tradition will help you break down your brick walls; thereby taking advantage of this excellent free research vehicle. * 3. I only ask that folks post comprehensive queries. Place the surname of your ancestor in the subject line and provide as much information as you can in your message. If you get a response please take any further exclusive discussions offlist. * Merry Christmas to everyone and all the best in 2009. Bye for now.......Murray Pletsch List Administator

    1. [ROCKY-MOUNTAIN] mystery death at Rockies?
    2. Hello everyone, I'm new to the list, I'm seeking some advice on how to try to discover what happened to a person in my family tree. My ancestors brother was named OLIVER HOLMES. He was born in 1862 in Lancashire England. Apparently he travelled a lot, probably during the 1880's and 1890's. The last his family heard from him they received a letter saying that he was on his way to the Canadian Rocky Mountains and he was never heard from again. I did try to look for a death on ancestry.com but there didn't seem to be a match. I have never researched for someone in the USA or Canada before so any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thank you, Tamara.

    1. New List Management software - Rootsweb
    2. Murray Pletsch
    3. Dear Listers: Rootsweb is changing to new list management software! http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html This list is scheduled to move today. Any differences you notice should be minor: The "-L" is being dropped from the official list name, but you will be able to both sub and post using the "old" name, with the -L, or the new one without it. If you use email headers to filter list mail in your email program, your filters may need adjusting. Digest subscribers will notice a small difference in the layout, volume and issue numbers of the list digests. New instructions will be added to the digests -- please read them. If your digests arrive in a different format than you are used to and you would like it changed, contact me. If you are subscribed to the list in both L and D modes using the same email address, you will find that you will no longer be subbed to the Digest after the move. The new software doesn't permit the same address to be subbed in both L and D modes. If you want to continue to be subbed to both the list posts and the digest, you will need to use two different email addresses. If you run into anything unusual or confusing with mail from this list that could be related to the changeover, let me know. Bye for now.......Murray Murray Pletsch <pletsch@cogeco.ca *OR* gravemarkers@hotmail.com>
