    3. Hello, My name is Shannon, I live just outside of Edmonton,AB. If anyone needs a copy of an obituary from the Edmonton Journal, feel free to ask, as I have regular access to the places that have copies. Please have the exact date or close to the exact date. If you need help in determining the date, there are a few ways to do it. My local library has the Edmonton Journal back to 1992. The Edmonton Archives has copies back, I think, to the beginning, except some years are missing. The Alberta Genealogical Society has obituaries organized by surname for the years approx 1972-1981. (I go to the AGS about once a month, it is in the same building as the Edmonton Archives) The Alberta Provincial Archives has many Alberta papers, Calgary Herald, Banff, and many others. ( I go to this Archives about twice a month) The Alberta Legislature has pretty well most of newpapers published in Alberta .......... I haven't been there yet, but certainly need a few from there! In looking up obituaries, the obituary daily times http://www.rootsweb.com/~obituary/ is a good reference point to find the date of the paper that the obituary is in, however it is only indexed back so far, and we are at mercy to the kind soles who volunteer their time contributing the information. For any of the members that are waiting for the listings that I promised to share on the mailing list, no worries, they are coming as soon as time permits. I am collecting quite a few on an ongoing basis....... Cheers, ~Shannon Cherkowski Sherwood Park, Alberta -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup CareerBuilder.com has over 400,000 jobs.
