ATKINSON, RANDY passed away peacefully at the High River Hospital on August 27th at the age of 52 years. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Brenda of 30 years and two wonderful sons, Cory (Sabrina) and Tyler (Missy), and his three cherished grandchildren, Gunnar, Bridger, and Kayla. He was born in Regina and spent his youth in Rouleau, Saskatchewan. Randy moved to Calgary at a young age where he began his career in seismic and in 1974 he started his own successful geophysical contracting company. In 1978 he and Brenda moved to High River where he has resided ever since. He cherished family time with his sons and his greatest joy was times spent with his grandchildren. He made frequent trips to the coast where he enjoyed fishing, and had fond memories of playing baseball with the High River Brewers. Randy is also survived by his sister Penny (Rick) Schultz of Regina, his step-mother Barbara Atkinson of Rouleau, mother-in-law Alma Merkel of High River, brothers-in-law Warre! n (Cathy), Ross (Gaylene), Darrin (Lydia), Kevin (Sandy) Merkel and sister-in-law Debbie Walde and his much beloved nieces and nephew. Randy was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Bette, father-in-law Norman Merkel and brother-in-law Don Walde. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30th at 1:30 p.m. at the Snodgrass Funeral Chapel in High River with Pastor Stewart MacKenzie officiating.
