Mary Smith’s brother John and his wife Mary Whitehead had already moved to Madison county Alabama in about 1796 and were well established when James Campbell brought his family there . Along with James an d Mary was James son William and his new wife Elizabeth Cash, daughter Elizabeth (unmarried); daughter Susannah and her husband Joel Ramsey and their 2 children. Son James Campbell Jr also made the move from Nelson County but did not stay long and returned to Nelson Co unty in 1821..
