Something tat Gives me concern. is the relocatio of Three of My Ancestroal Families, That the difference of the terian of their Original Home aea & What they setled for in the AREA that they settled for where they Relocated to. MY ancestor RichardPowell frm eastern Virginia<?> I have a map of the area on Puppy creek road on the west side of Tobaco Row Mountian, I have Visited this area Good for OPOSSUM HuNTING & wild grapes> My Coffey family, Relocated to the top of long mountian, another area good for Hard Scrable Farming, OPOSSUM Hunting, I this location they formed Coffey Town <??> Then My 5th Great Grand Pa George Campbell Settled on the North side of PINEY RIVER, Where he Evently Bought some land & Raised his large Family, in one of the least likely farming areas in the SState of Virginia. Haveing been raised on a Virginia Farm in Amherst Counnty Va & Lived on Farms in AMELIA, APPOMATTOX & Russell Counties. THERE is no way that from where MY Ancestors Camefrom & The area that they settled in in Amherst as being a wise selection of Farming Land, oer the area that thel left as being a wise selection> There I must assume that there was another reason for their relocation. IT is with out a POSIABLE DOUBT, that it was NOT THE LAND Choice that MY Ancestors Settled in The Three areas of Amherst COUNTY VA. that they & their Descendants were found in. DUE to the UNQUESTIONABLE Fact: Of my Ancestors Haveing left the Area of Va that they DID & settleing tn the Rough Mountian Area that they selected, That area was not the Best Land for Farming, Even in AMHERST Couny. I have to wonder if there is some unmentionable reason that they settled in the ROUGEST part of AMHERST COUNTY. Coffey's, Campbell's, & Powell's from ICE farming Country,??> TO SETTLING into the MOST Undesireable Farming Area of the County< FOR WHAT REASON??? REALY gives reasn to wonder why: IT is unquestionable that these three areas of Amherst County ARE THE MOST undesireable For farming. QUESTION? just why did these PEOPLE leave sme of THE MOST DESIREABLE farming land & settle in the MOUNTIANS?
