    1. [Campbell] Campbells acquainted with Benjamin Franklin
    2. Elizabeth Garland
    3. While researching my Campbell ancestors, I found some letters that said my ancestors were "three Campbell brothers who came to America on the same ship that (in the 1720s/30s) brought Benjamin Franklin from London. One of these boys went to Pennsylvania and all were friends of Franklin". Another letter said that the Pennsylvania brother, "a finely educated man, was for nearly thirty years president of a college in that state. The Campbell family originated in Scotland, emigrating from there to the United States in colonial days, three brothers of that name landing in Boston after crossing the Atlantic. They settled in different places, one branch going to Virginia, one to Tennessee, and one to Pennsylvania. Does this ring any bells to anyone. Hope someone can give me some pointers on how to check this out. THANKS Elizabeth Garland

    2. Elizabeth - Try finding out what ship Ben Franklin came over on. He is so well researched, it is likely easy to find. Once you know what ship and when and where it arrived, try to locate the passenger list or ship's manifest (probably on Ancestry.com, if it exists). I would use that as a first step. There are also many books written about the early settlers that came in through New England, and some of them may be helpful if you can narrow down your timeframe. Hope you find your link!
