Eastern Daylight Time Subj: Re: [campbell_kids] McCormick Grave Marking Ceremony Shirley; I would suspect that George Campbell Jr, a Continental Army Veteran of the Revolutionary War, (he was appointed a Captain in the Amherst County Military after the war) would be buried in lands he owned at the time of his death - 611 acres in the Temperance area of Amherst County. He had sold this property to his son George T without registering the deed prior to his death. A major portion of this property is known as Turkey Mountain Farm, owned by the Thompson's today. This property contains two Campbell cemeteries. I have a copy of the inventories provided by Leo Higginbotham. I am sure they are not accurate. They do not identify George himself or his wife Elizabeth . Our Campbell-Kids Cousin, Marlene Fitzgerald, gave a most beautiful tribute to her McCormick ancestor during the ceremony. She also met other McCormick relatives. I wish we could identify exactly where George Campbell and son John are buried. I would love to honor them and their service in the Revolutionary War. They probably were buried on their land, but does anyone have any idea? I know there is a cemetery on the old Tom Bowling place,land which Rhoda Campbell Bowling inherited from her father John Campbell. I have seen it, but Mrs. White (who was living there) did not know if he was buried there. Have any of you who live in Nelson County heard anyone talk about it? Have I missed anyone sharing this information?
