If the people of the lowlands were in fact Presbyterian as the article suggests (and Lawrence was not a common Highlander name as suggested by some) then it would infer very strongly that Lawrence's line did come from the lowlands of Scotland. Does anyone know what particular region of Scotland this would be (or does it simply refer to an area that is not on top of a mountain)? Perhaps the Lowlanders fled to the U.S. to avoid the wrath of their highland cousins and British incursions into their lands?
