IT was the same area that COUSIN PAUL SAUNDERS IS TELLING US ABOUT. I HAVE Information from SEVERAL of the Nelson County Campbell Cousins that MOONSHINING, PRODUCEING THE RESIPIE: AS it was refered to on the NELSON COUNTY WALTON FAMIY SHOW, There fore I have very little dobt that SOME of our Nelson County ANCESTORS know all about MOONSHINEING, That CUZ PAUL SAUNDERS REFERS TO IN HIS <<HEARTSBEATS OF NELSON COUNTY AGAIN WHAT A GREAT PLACE NELSON COUNTY MUST AVE BEEN TO HAVE GROWN UP IN, WELL I HAD JUST AS GREAT A PLACE JUST ACROSS PINEY RIVER IN AMHERST COUNTY VA> CUZ AT HUH HUH, AND MY first job that I recived PAY FOR: was picking a 60 gallon bARREL of Black Berries to make brandy in 1937 for the great sum of $-2 dollars CUZ AT Here are stories of farm life, country stores, tobacco, the James River & Kanawha Canal, the role of the country doctors, moonshining, the Depression, and the schools. There are stories of the apple and peach orchards, the plants at Piney River, and the soapstone industry. Here also are stories of Crabtree Falls, the Montebello Fish Hatchery, hunting and fishing, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the communities in-between. Heartbeats of Nelson depicts the everyday stories of those who grew up in Nelson during that era when many lived here, worked on the farms and industries, and spent their lives in sight of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
