Looking for descendants of my great grandfather Donald MacGregor Campbell 1861-1936 born at Ardchattan, Argyll, Scotland and died at London, Ontario and his multiple siblings. His parents were Donald Charles MacGregor Campbell 1815-1888 and Mary Campbell 1822-1910. There were nine (9) known children in total, John MacGregor 1847-1895, Alexander 1849-1907, Janet Campbell 1850-???, Margaret Mary Campbell 1852-1904, Annie MacGregor Campbell 1856-1927, Jesse Mary Campbell 1859-???, Donald MacGregor Campbell (my ggf), Katherine Campbell 1863-1940 and Gillespie MacGregor Campbell 1865-1946. Hi Ross, The combination of the MacGregor and Campbell names is interested from a historical perspective in view of the 200 year ban on the use of the MacGregor name beginning in the 1600s. Due to the ban some MacGregors assumed the name of Campbell. Some MacGregors took on other surnames hoping to get into the Campbell's good graces. There are two DNA tests from my family in the Campbell DNA name group. The family I am researching is Alexander and Nancy (Annie) Campbell who were both born in Scotland.
