I have reviewed ever legal document in both Amherst and Nelson County that refers to William Campbell that married Sarah Goode. And no document has “George” connected to his name either as a prefix or a suffix. “George” just does not exist other than perhaps in conversation when one would say William Campbell son of old George Campbell of Piney River Way,. Because it is written in the County Historical Society Book does not make it correct. Stories that were written in those books years ago was done when we knew little about our families. Look at all the brick walls that have been taken down in the past 10-15 years.
