I've "rescued" an old marriage certificate belonging to Milon WILSON and his bride Maria WOOLCOTT, both of Colchester Vermont, who were married on the 12th of October 1859. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this couple: Milon WILSON was b. 5 Jan 1837 in Colchester, VT to parents Durfee or Durpee WILSON (1788-1850) and Fanny or Mary CAMPBELL (1795-1838). Milon was one of 9 children born to this couple including, Solomon Merritt; Eliza Ann; Harritt Amanda; Nathaniel Earl; Durffee Roswelle; Henderson Charles; Merritt Breakneridge; Solon; and Milon WILSON, all born between 1814 and 1837. It appears that Milon was married more than once, his first marriage appears to have been to S. Maria or Mariah WOOLCOTT or WOLCOTT (he was 23 years old and she was 19 years old at the time) with whom he had three children, Clara M.; Frank M.; and Minnie E. WILSON, all born between 1862 and 1872. His second marriage was to Matilda who he divorced in 1897 while living in Champaign, IL. He then married Melissa M. WESTCOTT (1838-1904) in 1900 in Champaign, IL. Milon died 1 Jun 1913 in Danville, IL. S. Maria or Mariah WOOLCOTT or WOLCOTT was the daughter of C. H. & Electa WOOLCOTT and was born in Colchester, VT. Census records provide the following information: 1860 census of Colchester, VT: - note on census "Poor House" Milo WILSON, age 24, a Farmer, born NY Maria WILSON, age 20, born VT Sidney WOLCOTT, age 17, a Farm Laborer, born VT Asa FOX, age 40, born MA Abel BLANCHARD, age 78, born MA Samuel SEVERANCE, age 60, born VT John MCNALL, age 50, born Ireland Martin BLANCHARD, age 12, born VT Kate CASHMAN, age 24, born VT 1900 census of Champaign City, IL: Milson WILSON, age 62, born Jan 1838, newly married, born VT, parents born VT Melissa M. WILSON, wife, age 59, born Jan 1849, newly married, 3 children/3 living, born OH, parents born OH Sarah M. FRAMTON, step-dau, age 35, born May 1865, born IL, parents born OH I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the certificate can be returned to their care.
