My g-grandmother, Isabella Valucia Campbell was born 17 May 1850 in Waupun, Fond du Lac Co, WI. Her parents were Daniel A Campbell b 18 June 1822 in Waterville, Kennebec Co, Maine and Electa Lucetta Soper b 18 Jul 1832 in Delaware, Delaware Co, Ohio. Daniel & Electa were married 4 June 1849 in Fond du Lac Co, WI (The marriage record does not name the town). The 1850 census finds them in the town of Waupun, in the home of Moses Campbell, who is assumed to be the father of Daniel. The 1850 census does not indicate relationship to the head of household. The wife of Moses is Abigail, no maiden name known. The 1850 census indicates both Moses & Abigail were born in New Hampshire. Daniel and Electa had several children: Isabella Valucia, Clement C, Myra A, Lucretia, Phebe C, Katie P, Albert A & Daniel B. The 1900 census asks ‘how many children born to this mother’ and the answer is seven, with all seven living. The previous census tallies show eight children, with all of them born in WI except Myra, born in Iowa. I do not yet know if Daniel ever took his family to Iowa, or whether we might think that Myra was a niece taken in and raised with the family. The discrepancy is unresolved at this point.
