An abstract from History of Missouri bio: Campbell, John Alexander, merchant, born 19 September, 1871, at Steeleville, Randolph Co., IL. Parents were James Polk and Sarah Alice (Stillwangh) Campbell, both natives of that state. He finished his education in Kansas, and resided there at various positions for several years before moving to Joplin, MO. He started his own business, and in association with other, founded the Campbell-Redell Grocery Company of Joplin on 10 April, 1899.
