I am having some trouble with some early Campbells whose descendants emigrated from Scotland to Virginia as well. Dates from different researchers do not make sense. Perhaps someone can help. Archibald Campbell, Sir, Third Baronet of Auchinbreck, was born about 1629 in Knockmeille, Argyll, Scotland and reported as dying in 1664 . This last date does not allow him to have children born born 1660 to 1668. Does anyone have his children and dates/places of births/deaths? His son Duncan who is reported to be born in 1660 does not allow his children reported born 1668 to 1670 as well, and grandson James reported to be born in 1670 cannot have children from 1676 to 1692. To both Sandy Harris, and Cecil Campbell, I am VERY interested in this line of questioning, have your found any answers yet? Are you getting any feedback which is private and not posted on the mailing list? Would it be possible to share it with us? I have never paid much attention to the Campbell families in Scotland, just because I have no idea as to WHICH man was my immigrant ancestor, prior to knowing his name, I am 'dead in the water', as my Dad would have said. This Book reference which Cecil Campbell refers to is very interesting. Has anyone looked at that man and his wife, and what kids they had? Did he leave a Will which has survived? Just wanted to be sure to let everyone know that I am very much interested, but I have no facts to contribute at this moment, but hope that others will chime in and get a discussion started. Llilly, Am having problems with my computer, my son needs to come visit and fine tune it since others redid it for me.. I think my keyboard was somehow damaged in the move to or from storage. Now, thinking back, I was in Cambria Co., Pa. a LONG time ago doing research on the Varner,Shoup, Hauffman,Yoder, Baumgardner and Frain family lines and now that I think back, I do remeber you. So very much has happened since then. I would so love to be able to go back and do more research in that wonderful library there and also go down to Winber library. Do you live in that area? If you will send me an idea of which Campbells you are interested, I will see what I might find as I unpack. Then perhaps we will be able to share back and forth. Do you happen to be doing research on the Campbell that married the Mc Coy question? I don't have my records on that here yet.
