    3. Hi Lilly, Yes, I have studied George and Margaret because of Archibald. ( I'm still looking for the Archibald who married into the Baker family). I've always said Archibald of the REV War Pension Application could not be the son of Cat / George, as I have seen him identified. and was not born in 1754. I think you have to accept he is the one married to Sarah Cook and born 1763. That's what is in the application. I also think that Margaret's George might be - George Campbell and Anne Depriest Sep 20, 1791 John Depriest, surety. Consent of mother, Anne Depriest Her John might be - CAMPBELL, John--died ca 1802-03 Greenbrier Co., West Virginia, will p 25 January 1803 children: Hannah Jane Sarah Marthe Mary Rebecah - WV Estate Settlements also -- Argenbright vs. Campbell--O. S. 97; N. S. 33--Bill, 1804. Refers to a former suit between the parties in Augusta County, and High Court of Chancery. This is a bill by Augustine Argenbright vs. the heirs of John Campbell of Augusta. Writ to Greenbrier County, 1803, to summon Hanna Campbell, devisee and executrix of John Campbell, Jane Smith and John Handley. Deed by John of Augusta County, 1794. Answer by Hanna Cottle, late Campbell, daughter of John. John Handley married a daughter of John Campbell. Jane Smith was one of John Campbell's daughters. Andrew Campbell married Rebecca, a daughter of John. 1793--January 28th, Andrew Campbell and Rebeccah Campbell This might be EDLEY - On Mar 1, 1796 a deed from William Bush to Odley (Audley) Campbell was proved by George Campbell, Andrew Donelson and John Depriest and ordered recorded. I do think the two family are related, the names are so simular. Pat Patricia Curtis-Carter >> is from the 4th child born, his name is Archibald Campbell. His birth is > listed as 4-18-1754 Albemarle Co VA, but in his War Pension Application, it is listed as 4-1-1763 Amherst Co VA. > In the Application it states that the Soldier is 71 yrs old, and was in the VA Line, the date of the App. is 6-23-1834 at Greenbrier Co., VA. 3. Dear Pat, Thanks for shareing this info with us. Looking at my own file for the family of George and Margaret, I will make some comments here which concern the name you mention here in your email, in case it might help us to understand the family better. #1. George Campbell, s/o George and Margaret. Possibly he married Ann DePriest, the sister of John DePriest who married George's sister Ruth. The 2 marriage dates are 11 days apart. If this is true, then 2 siblings of the Campbell family married 2 siblings of the DePriest family. Those were common occurances. I would think we need to find a serious DePriest Family Researcher, and ask if they can throw light on this situation, from their side. #2. John Campbell, s/o George and Margaret. The Argenbright vs. Campbell document calls him "John Campbell of Augusta Co., VA". This identification would mean that he was a resident and tax payer of Augusta Co VA in his adult life, but apparently he died in Greenbrier Co. WV. That means we could search the Augusta Co VA records from basically 1769 onwards, to see how many John Campbell's might be listed in tax rolls, etc. Apparently John named his eldest daughter Hannah, who had married COTTLE, as his executor. I have a death date of 1-25-1803 for John Campbell at Greenbrier Co VA, but that date and location might be refering to this court case. I think Augusta Co VA is the place to search for this man. All of his daughters are accounted for by marriage, except for Mary Campbell, who could be called "Polly", and I still wonder if she is the wife of John Campbell, s/o George and Elizabeth, s/o George and Caty??? This has been a question mark in my files for a long time. If so, then this would be a "George and Margaret" descendant marrying a "George and Caty" descendant, and could tend to point to a relaitionship between the 2 families? #3. Edley Campbell, s/o George and Margaret: I have 3 marriages listed for him. Mary Elliot, Hannah, and Rachel Walker 6-12-1806 Wythe Co VA. Do we need to look over at Wythe Co for his records? His death date is said to be 3-10-1851.
