Here's a little of what I know about the family. Nothing prior to 1817 has been documented. James and Martha Campbell settled in Shelby Co. Indiana by 1822. James died May, 1837. Martha died 1854. Both buried in Roberts Chapel Cemetery on the Shelby Co. & Bartholomew Co. IN. line. Headstones determined date of birth/death. They had the following known children: CHINA b. abt. 1814 m. Robert Myers 1828 Shelby, IN, m. Abel Yates 1843 Andrew Co. MO. China died 1856 in Douglas Co. KS. Children: Lydia, Willis, Williamson Myers; Martha Yates. MARY b.abt. 1816 m. William H. Walker 1835 Shelby Co. IN. Mary died before 1837 in Shelby Co IN. Two children: William and Charlotte. ALFRED b. 1818 m. Maria Blades 1839 Bartholomew Co. IN. Moved to Gentry Co. MO. Alfred died 1849 in Ft. Laramie WY of 'bad water' on way to gold fields. Children: Charlotte, William Henry, Alfred Baxter, Virginia. HARRIET b. 1822 Shelby Co.IN m. Evermont Lewis 1845 Shelby Co. IN. Moved to Sonoma Co. CA 1870. Harriet died 1911 Sonoma Co. CA. (No parent info on death certificate) Child: James H. NELSON b. 1823 Shelby Co. IN. m. Barbara Ropp 1852 Shelby Co. IN. Nelson died 1855 Shelby Co. Children: James Alonzo, Nelson A. WASHINGTON b. 1827 Shelby Co. IN. m. Cynthia Ann Runyon, 1847; m. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Cheatham 1856; m. Nancy Cox 1860. Washington died after 1874. (No will, probate, guardian papers in Shelby or Bartholomew Co. IN found) Children: Wife 1# Madora Belle, Martha Ann, Mary Jane. Wife #2 James Christopher.
