When I took it over a year ago the 12-marker test cost $99 and the 25-marker $169. The manager of the Campbell DNA project is Kevin Campbell who normally also monitors this list. I took the DNA test hopping to find other Campbell relatives but I'm not even remotely related to any of the other 113 Campbells currently in the project, but I'm not the only one. However, I've matched at the 12-marker level three other men, none of whom are Campbells nor even have the same family names among themselves. The ancestor of one ot them even came from Germany. I assume that my early ancestor was not related to the original Campbells but lived in their territory and took the name of Campbell when surnames were introduced. His other (distant) male relatives were living in other territories and took those family names, one even migrated to Central Europe. The DNA test has certainly raised a lot of questions and I hope to find a few answers. In any case I would recommend that every male Campbell should take the test. The larger the project group the better. George Campbell
