To be fair, the information posted by Lilly Martin on Joel Campbell, Robert R. Campbell, and Riley Campbell was not entirely from me. I compiled the information with an enormous amount of help from Carol Harlow. Here is some more of our research: *Robert R. CAMPBELL (5).* He was born between 1818 and 1821 (age varied on each census between 1850 and 1880). He married Sarah MCCORMICK on October 5, 1840 in Rockbridge Co., VA. She was born on June 11, 1820. Her father was reported as William MCCORMICK (April 12, 1776-April 17, 1837), deceased. Her mother was Sallie (MCCLELLAND) MCCORMICK, William’s second wife. William & Sallie MCCORMICK are buried in the Old Providence Associate-Reformed Church Cemetery in Spottswood, VA. Robert R. CAMPBELL’s father was reported as Joel. Robert R. CAMPBELL died sometime between 1888 and 1900. Robert R. reported the death of his daughter, Elizabeth, in 1888. He did not appear on the 1900 Virginia census. They had the following children: *(1) Joseph William CAMPBELL.* He was born in 1841 in Rockbridge Co., VA. He was a farmhand until enlisting in the Confederate military on July 16, 1862 in Augusta Co., VA. He served in Company I, 52^nd Infantry Regiment of Virginia, as a private with distinguished service. He was listed on the military rolls on November 15, 1861 and February 15, 1862. On December 12 & 13, 1861 he fought at Camp Alleghany, WV. He died on April 25, 1862 of typhoid fever at Staunton hospital in Augusta Co., VA. E. CAMPBELL (Elizabeth or Esther) reported his death in June 1862. His parents were Rob. & Sarah Campbell. He was single. *(2) Mary Frances CAMPBELL*. She was born about 1845. *(3) Alonzo (or Loranza) A. (or W.) **CAMPBELL**.* He was born in July 1849. He married Lucy Jane (WEEKS) CAMPBELL on April 21, 1875. (I have more information on this individual, including death date, in my notes.) *(4) Nancy J. CAMPBELL.* She was born on June 9, 1851. She married Malachi FITZGERALD on March 6, 1873. She died on March 24, 1924. * Sarah G. (MCCORMICK) CAMPBELL *died sometime between the birth of Nancy I. CAMPBELL on June 9, 1851 and when Robert R. CAMPBELL remarried to Elizabeth (WEEKS) CAMPBELL sometime in 1851 or 1852. *Elizabeth “Betty” (WEEKS) CAMPBELL.** * She was born in May 1835 (according to the 1900 census). She married Robert R. CAMPBELL in Augusta Co., VA on December 6, 1852. Her parents were Catherine WEEKS and UNKNOWN (no father in household). In 1900 Elizabeth CAMPBELL, age 65, was living with her son John B. CAMPBELL, age 26, daughter Florance CAMPBELL, age 33, and two illegitimate grandchildren, a girl, Netty (born in January 1882), age 18, and boy, ?? avin or ?? aven, age 6 (July 1893). On the 1910 Virginia census, Elizabeth CAMPBELL, age 69, was living with her daughter Charlotte (CAMPBELL) DAVIS, age 38, and her husband J.A. DAVIS, age 44, their four children, and two adult boarders, in Slab Fork, WV. Death date unknown. They had the following children: * (5) Hannah M. CAMPBELL*. She was born about 15 Jul 1854. She married Nelson B. Crist (She was his second wife.) She died some time prior to ** *(6) Riley Ann CAMPBELL. (see below) * *(7) Marcelles (or Marcellus or Marsilla) Bateman CAMPBELL.* He was born on October 8, 1858. She married Florence Cash on Dec 29, 1881. (I have more information on this individual, including death date, in my notes.) *(8) Margaret L. “May” **CAMPBELL**.* She was born in September 1860. She married Matthew FITZGERALD. Margaret died prior to 1893; Matthew FITZGERALD remarried in 1893. *(9) Florence** T. (or B. or G.) **CAMPBELL**.* She was born in February 1867. She had two illegitimate children, Cleaven (or Clioven or Cleveland), born in 1894, and Netty, born in 1882. On November 6, 1895 there was a deed between Alonzo A. CAMPBELL (and his wife Lucy) and Florence G. for 38 1/4 acres of land in Rockbridge Co., VA. The deed was delivered to Wm. M. Crist for grantee on March 27, 1898. Florence CAMPBELL was living in Rockbridge Co., VA in 1900 with her two children, her brother John B. (James), and mother Elizabeth. On December 3, 1902 Florence sold her 38 1/4 acres of land to her brother M.B. CAMPBELL. She bought the land for $114 and sold it for $130. At the time of the sale, she was living in Prince George's Co., MD. According to the deed, she purchased the land from her brother M.B. CAMPBELL. Whereabouts unknown after December 1902. *(10) Charlotte Virginia CAMPBELL.* She was born on April 18, 1868. She married Jacob A. DAVIS about 1890. In 1930 she was living in Staunton, VA with her husband, Jacob, her daughter, and grandson. Charlotte and Jacob are buried at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, near Vesuvius. Charlotte died January 5, 1937 and Jacob died August 15, 1931. *(11) Elizabeth B. CAMPBELL.* She was born in 1871. She died on May 2, 1888 in South River in a fire: “burned age 16y”. She was listed as the daughter of “R&E Campbell” and born in Rockbridge Co., VA. The death was “reported by father.” *(12) John B. CAMPBELL.* He was born in October 1873. He was a teamster. He was last reported on the 1900 Virginia census as James Campbell, living with his mother Elizabeth, sister Florance, and her two children, in Rockbridge Co., VA. Whereabouts unknown after 1900 census. ----------------------------------------------------------- *(6) Riley (or Rilan) Ann (or Arthur) **CAMPBELL** * He was born on September 8, 1856 in Rockbridge Co., VA. He married Dicey (or Dica) Victoria (MORAN) CAMPBELL on July 25, 1878 in Rockbridge Co., VA. His father was reported as R.R. CAMPBELL. The minister was A.H. Hamilton. Dicey (MORAN) CAMPBELL was born in June 1850 in either Virginia or Kentucky. Her parents were Charles N. MORAN (1813-February 14, 1903) and Serreppta A. (KNOX) MORAN (September 1822 in Ohio- ). Riley CAMPBELL died on February 28, 1932 in Shady Springs, WV, and buried in Blue Jay Cemetery. Dicey (MORAN) CAMPBELL died on February 12, 1935 and was buried in Blue Jay Cemetery. They had the following children: *Arthur Felton **CAMPBELL**.* He was born on November 8, 1878 in Rockbridge Co., VA. He married Rebecca (FITZPATRICK) CAMPBELL. She was born about 1879. Arthur CAMPBELL died on December 16, 1958 in Raleigh County, WV. *Serreppta D. CAMPBELL.* She was born on September 26, 1880 in Rockbridge Co., VA. She died on September 18, 1942 in Raleigh County, WV. She never married. *Douglas Lee CAMPBELL. *He was born on June 22, 1883 in Vesuvius, Rockbridge Co., VA. He died on October 16, 1952 in Mt. Hope, WV. He married Pearl Virginia (BRAGG) CAMPBELL, daughter of David BRAGG and Ruth (MCCUTCHEON) BRAGG, in Raleigh Co., WV. Pearl (BRAGG) CAMPBELL was born on August 25, 1891 in WV and died on September 2, 1971 in Oak Hill, WV. * * *Annie Precious **CAMPBELL**.* She was born on April 16, 1888 in Fayette Co., WV. She died on June 6, 1986 in Daniels, Raleigh Co., WV. She married Elijah WEBB. Elijah Webb was born on September 24, 1880 and died in July 1964 in WV. *Herbert Basil CAMPBELL*. He was born on January 30, 1893. He died in 1963 in Raleigh Co., WV. He married Annie HUMPHREY. *Bessie JoAnn CAMPBELL*. She was born in May 27, 1898. She died on January 15, 1971 in Raleigh Co., WV. She married Ira Lucian HUMPHREY.
