    3. Hello, Thanks to information provided by Steven Campbell, I will now type up a report here for Joel Campbell, s/o George Campbell and Caty, of Amherst Co VA. Joel Campbell b. abt 1776 (as per 1850 census records) died: after 12-20-1850 , probably died in Rockbridge Co VA. Married: Margaret "Peggy" Patterson, m. 6-13-1799 Amherst Co VA. She was daughter of Betsey Patterson (Elizabeth is formal for Betsey). Marriage performed by Rev. William Crawford. Surety bond by Samuel Campbell (Joel's brother) Consent by Caty Campbell (Joel's widowed mother) In May 1826 at Nelson Co VA, a deed is recorded, in which Joel Campbell sold out his land there to his older brother John Campbell, m. Frances. On 12-2-1850 Joel Campbell wrote his will, this will was not probated until 1887, that was after his daughter Lucinda Campbell died. Perhaps she was his LAST surviving heir by then? I have used official courthouse marriage records to 'suppose' the marriages of his children, listed below. The dates and counties and names are correct, but I do NOT know for sure if these marriages are actually connected to these people, these are 'guesses' at this point, waiting for confirmation. In this 1850 will, it states his children to be: 1. Tarlton Patterson Campbell (b. 1800, d. 12-16-1861 Rockbridge Co VA. Did he marry: Elizabeth Cameron 8-28-1823 Rockbridge Co VA? Remember that Edward Campbell, brother to Joel, also married Frances Cameron. Are these 2 Cameron girls related?) 2. Charles Ptolover Campbell (is this actually Charles Patterson Toliver Campbell?) (b. 1804 d. 6-19-1858 Rockbridge Co VA.) (Did he marry: Elizabeth Patterson m. 6-26-1830 Rockbridge Co VA? Did he also marry Harriet Cumings 11-21-1838 Rockbridge Co VA?) 3. Alexander Campbell (Did he marry: Peggy Brant 9-12-1822 Rockbridge Co VA? Was her name Brant or Brandt or Bryant?) (When did he die?) 4. Louisa McPheerson Campbell b. 1810, according to 1850 Rockbridge Co VA census. Perhaps she never married? She died before Lucinda, her sister. By 1850 census, she was 40 years old, unmarried, and living with her Father and younger sister. 5. Lucinda E. J. Campbell b. 1812, according to 1850 census, she was 38 yrs, not married, perhaps she never married. She died in 1887, and her death caused her father's Will to be probated. Please post information if you connect to theses names. Best regards, Lilly Martin (researching George and Caty Campbell)
