Paul, I was reading through some old e-mails from this list and just realized that you were descended from a George and Elizabeth Campbell, I think I am too. I would love to get a copy of the death certificate you have of their son John. Was your John Campbell married to Frances Wright? Please let me know. Shirley Patrick
Dear Shirley and all others, John Campbell married to Frances, was the son of George Campbell and Caty. George Campbell married to Elizabeth was the son of George Campbell and Caty. John Campbell and George Campbell, Jr were brothers. Another way to look at it is this: #1. George Campbell, m. Catherine (Caty) #2. John Campbell, m. Frances #2. George Campbell (Jr.) , m. Elizabeth The maiden name of FRANCES has never been proven, there was some speculation that she might be from the WRIGHT family, but nothing has been proven that I am aware of, so her maiden name remains unknown to me. Concerning your own line, this was the information that you gave to me in the past, and it appears to be correct, as far as I can see: #1. George Campbell, m. Caty #2. John Campbell, m. Frances #3. James W. Campbell, m. Nancy Evans (these are my ancestors) #4. John P. Campbell, m. Phoebe Mays #5. Egbert Thacker Campbell, m. Mary Jane Rouse #6. Walter William Campbell #7. Shirley Campbell Is this still the same data according to your files? By the way, ROUSE is a very well researched name of the Fort Germanna community in VA. I am also descended of that group of German immigrants who arrived in Virginia in 1714, 1717, and beyond. My ancestor John Swindle was in the Revolutionary Army, and the buddy who vouched for his service, so he could get his War Pension, was Samuel ROUSE, and Sam's boy ended up marrying John's daughter, they settled in Boone Co KY, where they built a German Lutheran church just like they left in Virginia. www.germanna.org Of the names listed above, I have reports prepared for #1, #2, #3. Do you need these, or have you already recieved them from me in the past? According to my files, the researchers who are descended from James W. Campbell and Nancy Evans, are: #1. Shirley Campbell Patrick #2. Wanda Hamblin vaelvisfan@aol.com #3. Hazel HPrice8965@aol.com #4. Lilly Martin Shirely, if you have a brother that is living, or a nephew that is living, who is a son of your brother, they could be a perfect candidate for the DNA test going on for the Campbell family. Your brother or nephew would represt an unbroken line going back to Geroge and Caty, and we don't have anyone taking the test yet for that couple. Based on the results, they might be able to pin-point which Campbell group we belong to, and this might allow us to take the next step back in time and find out immigrant ancestor, and our family line in Scotland! It is so exciting to think about. Please consider asking your relatives for the test. It must be male, and must be named Campbell, any male Campbell relative of your father.
