    1. Campbell DNA project, specifically for Virginia, USA.

    3. Hello Kevin and all others, Please look at the list that you sent in your original email, below. I have *********put asterisks (stars) next to the names you listed, which have some relationship to the State of Virginia, USA. I am trying to find if any of these names (DNA test results) would have a connection to the very large descendant group that I belong to, that of George Campbell b. about 1730, who died 1791 in Amherst Co VA, who was married to Catherine, aka Caty. The name of John Campbell and Grace Hay did not have VA mentioned next to their name, but I know from the Historical book about the Tinkling Spring Church in Augusta Co VA, that they were from that area, and that area is directly adjacent to the Amherst Co VA area. We have been wondering for several years as to HOW Fountain Campbell (researcher is Sam Campbell of this list) would fit into the different Campbell lines in Amherst and Nelson Co VA. To re-state my research, I looked at all the various Campbell families of both Amherst Co VA and Nelson Co VA, and found that they were not all related, but came from 8 early men named Campbell, who were not known to be related. Those 8 men are: 1. Neil Campbell (left a daughter, who later married Hugh Campbell, so Neil's line of descendants would also be Hugh's line of descendants) 2. James Campbell (m. Mary Smith, d/o Abraham) 3. George Campbell (m. Margaret) 4, George Campbell (m. Caty, this is my group) 5. Francis Campbell (m. Isabelle) 6. Henry Campbell (m. Charity) 7. Lawrence Campbell (m. Henrietta Catlett) 8. John Campbell (m. Amelia Coffey. He is said to be a son of Francis Campbell and Mary Davis) I produced and posted 41 reports, each numbered, which detailed the descendants of those 8 men, with the help of MANY, many fellow researchers, connected to those various lines. If anyone is connected to any of these lines mentioned above, then email me back and I can send you the pertainent report, or you may go to the archives and search on it. I do know, that there is a Danny Campbell who descends from George and Caty, and also Steven Campbell as well. If either of those men did take the test, we could then use those results to make a match to other test results. Are there any other men, named Campbell, who are from the George and Caty group, who would be willing to take the test? Are there any men named Campbell, who are from any of the other groups I listed above, who would be willing to take the test? There is NO BLOOD involved. In my own personal line of Campbell, my great grandma Susie Jane Campbell had 2 brothers: George W. Campbell b. 1880 VA, and Willie T. Campbell b. 1881. I have NEVER found George later than the 1880 census in Amherst Co with his parents, he was a baby then. The last record I have for Willie T. Campbell is 1908, at Jefferson Co OK when he maried Mary Rowe of Claypool, OK. He listed his home at Cornish, OK (Stephens Co OK) I have never found his kids, or their kids, so I do not know of any male Campbell that I could ask to be tested for my line, sorry. If anyone can shed light on any of the Campbell names in Colonial Virginia, and especially how they relate to the Amherst Co and Nelson Co VA Campbell families, please reply here.
