Dear Lilly, What reports do you have prepared for #1, #2, #3 ? Could I receive these from you also? Yes I am descended from James W. Campbell. His father John was married to Francis but not real sure of her maiden name. So many say it is Wright but just don't know. My Campbell line goes: #1 George Campbell -m- Margaret [Henderson ?] #2 George -m- Catherine[Caty] #3 John Campbell -m- Francis ?? #4 James W. Campbell -m- Nancy Evans #5 James H. Campbell -m- Sarah/Sallie Massie #6 Nathaniel Campbell -m- Edith Whitehead Cash #7 Vera Vaughn Campbell -m- James Timolian"Buck" Campbell #8 James Lenna Angus -m- William Jafie Fitzgerald #9 Dorothy Corrine Fitzgerald -m- Warren Garfield Holleman #10 Wanda Lee Holleman -m- David Wayne Hamblin Regards, Wanda Hamblin
Dear Wanda, Yes, I will send you via email the reports you ask for here, but first you need to check your email account, because I did previously try to send you something directly, but it was refused, probably thought I was SPAM. So I can send them, but get it set up so that it won't be refused, then email me back with the Go-Ahead. Just to let you know, I do not consider the father of George Campbell to be George Campbell who married Margaret. We have discussed that before on the mailing list in depth. Margaret was 5 years younger than George who married Caty, therefor Margaret can not be mother to George, however she could be a young step-mother, if George Campbell had a first wife that we don't know of. At this point, my own personal ancestry stops at George Campbell who married Catherine, (Caty). There has never been anything which pointed to a connection between George Campbell who married Margaret and George Campbell who married Caty. They are at this point 2 separate men, but with the same name, living in the same general area in VA. Name and location are the only things which connect them at this point. Steven Campbell recently found a family history written, "Chiles-Childs" family history, which says that George Campbell was the son of Charles Campbell of Ireland. This history is refering to George who married Caty, we can recognise him from the names of his kids that are listed. So I would keep your info about George and Margaret safe, but put a question mark on it, until we can find something which points to a connection between the 2. The BEST way to find the connection, would be a DNA test www.familytreedna.com If a MALE descendant of George and Caty, and another descendant of George and Margaret, through one of their sons, both took the test, we could compare the results. If we have a match, then we can definately say who is the father of George Campbell who married Caty. At this point no one from either group has done the test, that I am aware of. Concerning your ANGUS line: I have studied William Angus b. 1781, listed in the 1860 census at Amherst Co VA. married to Elizabeth Fulcher. I followed in the census their son Gustavus Angus to Giles Co TN, he was married to Susannah Mays, d/o Frances. I am interested in ANGUS because: in the 1900 census in Comanche Nation Indian Territory, my ancestor Henry W. Campbell b. 1855 Temperance, Amherst Co VA states they young man boarding with them is his "nephew". That young man is Ernest Elmer BATES, and his mother was MARY ANGUS born in VA. This tells me that Henry felt some relationship to Elmer, it might not be exactly Uncle-Nephew relationship, but he felt related to the boy. I need to find out how Mary Angus born in VA, who married ANGUS Bates are related to the Amherst Co VA group. I feel that Mary Angus and Henry W. Campbell probably both came from Amherst Co VA. I need help to find the pices of the puzzel. Elmer Bates married Buelah Lee Campbell in OK, she was my great grandmother's sister, the Bates-Campbell family settled in Dallas, TX.
