You state that James was b. 1782 and married at the age of 7 in 1789? I think this must be a typo! As for Bowling Green from the answer to you query, there were indeed a great many Campbell's who migrated there. My Campbell's were there from VA just after 1800. And I'm sure there were many before that date. A lot of these Campbell's eventually migrated into MO and connecting states when the territories were opened up for land grants in the 1820's and 1830's. There is a picture of a James H Campbell and his family on ancientfaces.com, as well as other Campbell's. I visit it now and again to see if there are any of my ancestors. One picture I have from that site doesn't seem to be there anymore, so I'll post the information: GORDON HOMER CAMPBELL, 19-20 yrs. old, born Piney River, Nelson Co., VA in 1888 & moved to Amherst abt. 1907. Married RUTH CASH TUCKER in 1909. Since my ancestors are from that area, I printed off the picture for my files. If anyone would like a copy, let me know. Phyllis in CA
Phyllis, I believe it reads James Campbell b.1782 NC married Martha Adams b.1789. (Martha was born in 1789 NC) I have not found a marriage record. A daughter, China, was born abt. 1814 location unknown. Thank you for the Bowling Green information. I appreciate it.
