I am deep into the Campbells of the middle ages. I have Mary MacLeod (McLea?) 1552-1602 married to Duncan Campbell 1511 and killed with his father at the Battle of Glenlivet. Duncan was the Fifth Duke of Argyll. I do see the possible name again...a John MacLean (McLea?) 1601 married to Florence Campbell 1603, daughter of Dugald Campbell, Sixth Duke of Argyll 1576-1641. Again...Janet McLeod (McLea?) married to James Campbell, Fifth Baronet of Auchinbreck 16-- - 1756 (dates for this latter a mess...have been trying to find correct dates at this site without luck...no one seems to be working on the Campbells this far back). Is this information any help? ----- Original Message ----- From: "South" <southness@austarnet.com.au> To: <CAMPBELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 25, 2006 1:51 AM Subject: [CAMPBELL] McLea of Linsaig? > Hello, > > I am hoping a few old hands may be able to provide much needed > information. > > The 7th Earl of Argyle, went to Spain and within his retinue were the > three son's of the McLea Baron of Linsaig, from Cowal.
