WB A pg. 144 by John Camden a bond of Jessee Wright; James Campbell, son of Wm. - a note: Wm Campbell, son of Henry - dated 10-28-1811, so : Henry Campbell per Nel Co. DB 1:73 dated 11-9-1808 to Landon Cabill & Jas. C. Cabell to secure Wm. B. Hare $1.00, tobacco at Tye & Swan Creek bought. Nelson Co Deed Book 8, page 259, Deen between Campbell and Camden, this establishes the children of Henry Campbell. "According to a 1835 DEED between the widow of Henry Campbell, Sarah Wright, and her children and a Mr. William W. Camden (a neighbor), the sons and Daughters of Henry Campbell and Sarah Wright are identified. Therefor, I have identified Mrs. Cornelius Campbell, as Catherine Campbell m. 1816 at Nelson Co, d/o Henry Campbell and Sarah Wright, she is widowed living in Nelson Co VA as of the 1860 census, living next door to her older brother John H. Campbell, and her son William H. Campbell b. 1819, her son William H. Campbell is married to Martha Mays, as of the 1860 census at Rose Mills, Nelson Co VA. Her older brother William W. Campbell is living at Massies Mill, Nelson Co as of 1860 census, and her other brother Benjamin W. Campbell is living in Amherst Co in 1860 census". &." In the deed dated 1835 in Nelson Co, she mentions all her children, and the spouses of her daughters, in that deed, because this sale was affecting the kids inheirtance, so they were legally involved." Her parents are listed as B. W. And Vicey Campbell. 1.12.1.10 William A. Campbell, b. 1839, son of Benjamin and Vicey Campbell m. Martha Jane Mays in Nelson Co. Per ML 1:12 dated 8/4/1864. He died 8-1-1865 Nelson Co, he had married in 1864 to Martha Jane Mays, and died while still newlywed. 1.12.1.11 Jennet W. Campbell b. cr. 1841; m. Samuel E. Massie son of Edmund and Lucinda L. (Denny) Massie. Samuel was b. 5/9/1842 and d. 1/1/5/1925. 1.12.2 William W. Campbell 72 yrs. On the 1860 Nelson Co. Census. He lives at Massies Mill. "I believe he is the s/o Henry Campbell and Sarah Wright. He would be the sibling of Catherine Campbell and John H. Campbell, both listed in Nelson co 1860 census. " [4] William W. Campbell b. 1788. In the 1860 census at Nelson Co, this man is listed with a woman named Edithy Campbell b. 1813 and a Jeno Ann Campbell b. 1841, who are these 2 women? 1.12.4 John H. Campbell [4] says " I believe this is John H. Campbell b. 1789, (as established by 2 census records, 1850 & 1860). s/o Henry Campbell and Sarah WRIGHT. Henry, s/o George Campbell and Catherine (Caty). And died age age 71 per LDS record. This John H. Campbell may have married Harriet B. Bryant 6-9-1848 Nelson Co, in the 1860 census this John H. Campbell has a younger woman and 2 children living with him. She is Arrana M. Campbell, b. 1827. Her father is said to be Cornelius Campbell, but that is not confirmed, and is disputed by some. Benjamin M. Campbell, the son Arrana, did marry Julia Ann Campbell, d/o George T. Campbell b. 1824 and Eady B. WRIGHT. George and Eady are my ancestors. It is possible that this John H. Campbell was NOT married to Arrana Campbell, but she was only living with him, perhaps he was an older relative? If she is the d/o Cornelius Campbell, then he was her mother's brother. " [4] "I believe that on land records or in census record, when ever you see the name JOHN H. CAMPBELL surrounded by Camden names as well, that will identify this particular man. Because there was another man, also named JOHN Campbell, also in Nelson Co, but I believe you will find his land, and his census records, close to COFFEY names, in Nelson Co VA. Also, John H., s/o Henry, is 18 years YOUNGER than the other man named John Campbell. Additionally, I always see the H. intial used on the younger man, so that might be one more way to distinguish the 2 men, who are neighbors, but not related. The older man was John Campbell married to Amelia Coffey. " [4] "I think this man might be listed in the 1820 census at Nelson Co, and possibly listed in 1830, 1840, and in the 1850 census at Nelson Co he is definately listed. In the 1850 census is says he is 60 yrs old, and has a young woman named Jrena Campbell, 22 yrs old, living with him. This lady is Arrena Campbell b. 1829, and is the daughter of his sister Catherine Campbell, d/o Henry. Catherine Campbell married Cornelius Campbell in 1816 in Nelson Co VA. This Arrena (Irene?) was John H. Campbell's niece, did they marry and have 2 kids? Or did she have 2 kids with an unknown man, and she simply raised those 2 kids in the household of her Maternal Uncle? That is the question." [4] "In the 1860 census, John H. Campbell 71 yrs, and Areena M. Campbell 33 yrs, are still listed together in the same house, and now she has 2 children with them: Virginia M. Campbell b. 1851, and Benjamin M. Campbell b. 1853." [4] They are living at Rose Mill, Nelson Co VA, next door to the house of Catherine Campbell, widow of Cornelius, and next door to William H. Campbell b. 1818, married to Martha (Mays). "In the 1870 census, John H. Campbell is not listed (dead), I can not find Arrena (Irene-Irena?) at all, I can not find her daughter Virginia, but by then she would be 19 yrs old, and may have married by then, her son Benjamin M. Campbell b. 1853 is living in with his Maternal Aunt, Sarah W. Campbell b. 1820, in Nelson Co VA."[4] "Next clue: there is a marriage record for a John H. Campbell married to Harriet B. Bryant 6-9-1848 Nelson Co VA. John would be 58 yrs old at that date, this is possibly his second marriage, but I have no info for a first marriage for him, so it could be his first, late, marriage. I feel that this marriage 'looks' like it should be him, and no one else. Possibly this Harriet Bryant died between 1848 and 1850 census, and Arrana M. Campbell then appeared in the household with John H. Campbell, in the 1850 census." [4] 1.12.5 George H. Campbell m. Mary Ann [4] 1830 Nelson. Co. Census George H. Campbell , s/o Henry and Sarah, s/o George and Caty 1 male 30-40 George H. Campbell 2 females 20-30 Mary Ann (from 1835 court doc) Is she P. Drake , m. 11-24-1817 Nelson Co. ?? P. aka Polly, aka Mary? George H. Campbell is in house 653 on 1850 Amh. Co. Census age 65, with wife Mary age 65 daughter Elizabeth, age 50. They are between Benjamin Campbell & Elizabeth Campbell. 1.12.7 Catherine Campbell, b. 1795, in 1816 she married Cornelius Campbell, s/o George Campbell and Elizabeth, s/o George and Caty. Cornelius Campbell died in 1840, and in the 1860 census Catherine Campbell is listed as living next door to her older brother John H. Campbell at Rose Mill, Nelson Co VA. She has living with her a Sarah W. Campbell b. 1820, who is either her daughter, or a widowed daughter in law. They also have a young boy named George M. Campbell b. 1846. Is this George M. Campbell the son of Sarah W. Campbell? Who is his father? In the 1880 census there is a George M. Campbell listed in Nelson Co married to a Margaret b. 1848, with kids: Cary Lee b. 1874, Thomas W. b. 1875, Daniel W. b. 1877, and James B. b. 1879 This could also possibly be the G. M. Campbell, who in 1888 directory is listed as an Undertaker at Rose Mill, VA. ARE THERE any RESEARCHERS out there working on that family group???
