    3. One of the saddest parts of Campbell research is that there were SO MANY Campbell families in PA and OH that weren't connected! It makes for a very frustrating journey! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Campbell" <paule_3@hotmail.com> To: <CAMPBELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 30, 2006 9:31 PM Subject: Re: [CAMPBELL] Re: Campbells in Pa. > Allen (and Darlene) my Campbells were "scattered all over Western Pa and Eastern Ohio. In my life time, most of the Campbells I have known were in Beaver County and some in Mercer County. SOme were also in Lawrence County (at various times) but I'm not sure if I know of any living in Butler County (specifically). > At one time, I was told that my Grandfather worked on a Streetcar in Oil city, Pa (Venango County) and he was buried in Grandview Cemetery in Beaver Falls (Beaver County) PA. My Grandfather was reportedly born in Wellsville, Ohio ( Columbiana County) December of 1864. His father, Joseph J. Campbell, was reportedly born in Washington Township, Columbiana County Ohio in 1836. I believe his father and mother were Samuel Campbell and Sarah Hunter Campbell who were living in Salineville, Ohio during the 1850 Census Report. I said "I believe" because I have been contacted by another "Campbell Cousin" who ( for some reason I have not yet been made aware of) believes that my Great Grandfather (Joseph J.) was actually not one of Samuel and Sarah's children, but rather a "nephew" who happened to be "staying" with the family at the time of the Census. I do not know what evidence (if any) he has on this. > After Samuel, my "trail goes cold". I can't seem to find anything about where he was born or who his parents were. I have been provided some info regarding a Samule that migrated from Tioga County to Warren County and thence on to Columbiana County Ohio, but when I tried to tie the two together, the dates and years of birth seemed too far off to be a match....but who knows? They didn't keep real good records back then apparently. > More info upon request.
