ATTEN LISA, The area that you mention Cumberland County <THAT is the Fayetteville Area & Johnston Co. is up I-95 from Fayetteville. I have read where some Campbell's did Arrive from over Seas into N C. BUT Many of the People into N. C. S. C. & GA. Could be Traced Back to VA Ports. BUT the Campbell Child name Practice Was That the First Son was Named after Dad's Father, The 2nd Son was Named after the Mother's Father & the 3rd Son was named after the Father. My 2nd Campbell was George, He Had 5 Sons, The 2 George Had 8 Sons, NOW, ADD: 1st Geo, to second Geo,= 2 Geo.+ 5 Named after the 2nd George =7 GEO + 8 Named after the 2nd GEORGE CAMPBELL & Catherine = 14 George Campbell's in addition to John's Samuel, Ambrose,Henry + WHO KNOWS what ever names that may have come along With the Habit of Brothers nameing their Children after their Sibling's Children COUSINS marring Cousins, There were so many same named Campbell's & in my other families that the Parents used every Creek, Mtn, Or Fiscal trait that was noticeable, BUT those MOUNTAIN Cousins knew which Cousin that was Mentioned, & now Your & My cousins researching & not Knowing the Nickname that went with those many George or Buck Campbell's JUST Find That many OLDER Campbell's with the same names.
