The Campbells I am from are through my Mom's'mother, her mother was the Campbell then on back. William was a circuit rider preacher and was known as Colie. He and my GGGrandfather ended up leaving VA and settled in Franklin NC and that's'where my Mom's'Mother was born. They have reunions there with the Campbells so I hope to make it one day. My GGGrandparents were Joseph Stephen Campbell and Mary Elizabeth Bird. There were 4 Campbell sons that married the 4 Bird daughters. Bob's'grandfather was a younger brother to my GGGRandfather Joseph. If you ever run into any info on them I sure would appreciate it. Hi Kathleen I too am in Canada, Windsor, ON. My people settled in Craigleith, Collingwood Twp., Grey County, just west of the town of Collingwood. They were from Islay, Scotland. My Dugald CAMPBELL, b. 1805 on Islay, claimed the land of an Indian clearing at the foot of the Blue Mountains, just down the road from what is now Bleu Mountain Ski Resort, north of Toronto. In the 1960's his great grandson sold the farm fields to developers who covered it with ski chalets. Dugald's wife was Anne KEITH. They lived there and raised their family. The farm house property, a very few remaining acres, was just sold recently when the above mentioned great grandson died. Where is Rescobie? Any connections with CAMPBELLs in Grey County, Ontario?
