Larry, I'm sure you've combed the McCubbins records thoroughly, but just in case someone else is interested, the records are held on microfiche by LDS and can be sent to a library in your local community. They're interesting to read and feature a good deal about the life and property of a John Campbell and his family (and the Brandons), c. early 1700s to mid-1800s, Rowan County NC. I am looking for information on a John Campbell (b. 1775) in adjacent counties, but unfortunately, I don't think there's a connection with this man.
