    3. Is it possible that the parents of Dugald were not 'Campbells' but that he and his sister took the name (Campbell) by those who raised them after being orphaned? 3. Hi Bruce What an excellent suggestion. I never considered this. Unfortunately, few records survive on Islay, only scant Births and Marriages, no deaths registrations from than era, neither church records nor civil. While no record of a Dugald, born to a CAMPBELL family of that era exists, finding him as the young child of another family is impossible as no such records exist. Formal adoptions didn't happen. Kids were just absorbed into a family. Of course that is how it was, back then around the world. This is an excellent suggestion. I will hold on to it, just in case. Thank you very much for your insight, Malcolm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bruce Campbell" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 28, 2010 10:06 PM Subject: Re: [Campbell] Roll Call > Is it possible that the parents of Dugald were not 'Campbells' but that he > and his sister took the name (Campbell) by those who raised them after > being orphaned? > > Good hunting > Bruce > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Malcolm Campbell" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Friday, May 28, 2010 6:41 PM > Subject: Re: [Campbell] Roll Call > > >>I thought only the List Master could call a Roll Call!!
