    3. Mitochondrial DNA is passed from mother to child, so it's present in both men and women. I think it can be used to document the maternal line.     3. I had my MTDNA done about four years ago and - so far as I can see - it is a super-collassal waste of money. I get "matches" on a near daily basis from Family Tree DNA and so far have found no connection whatsoever to any of them.
