Hello everyone... I have rejoined this list hoping to find more about my two CAMPBELL Families and perhaps find some distant Cousins. Janet CAMPBELL and Robert CAMPBELL we think are related but not through the CAMPBELL's that I know of yet... Janet CAMPBELL married Matthew MUIR in Mauchline in 1778 OPR entry says Janet from Loudoun Matthew from Mauchline.....that is all we know for sure about this Couple I think the Matthew MUIR who was buried in Mauchline in 1802 may be Janet's Husband but there is no further information on the burial other than what was on the Burial register...which only gives the date of Burial and that he was from Mauchline... Matthew and Janet had 5 children we know of Jean, Matthew, Janet,Agnes and James If the naming pattern was followed Jean and James could be Janet's Parents..a birth of a Janet CAMPBELL in Loudoun in 1760 has Parents James CAMPBELL and Jean YOUNG...a strong possibility...but there is no proof.. so really cant claim this one.... Matthew the Son married Janet WATT and had children Margaret, Matthew, Forrester, Janet, George, Agnes, Mary,Catherine,Matthew, William, James, Jean or Jane and Robert. Jane MUIR married a Captain John CAMPBELL in Victoria Aust. in 1857 both Jane and John died in 1875 and the death cert confirms she is the Dau of Janet WATT and Matthew MUIR both are buried in Hamilton Victoria.. John CAMPBELL being buried with Jane's Brother Matthew.. There is a birth in Ayr of a Robert CAMPBELL 19 Jun 1862 with Parents John CAMPBELL and Jane MUIR we have no proof yet that this is the Child of our John and Jane. Jane's Brother Matthew MUIR also living in Victoria travelled several times back to Scotland and we feel that perhaps Jane and John CAMPBELL may have done so as well... John CAMPBELL's death cert does not give Parents names but does say he was born in Argyll and that he was age 50 so that would mean born in 1825, So far we have not been able to find out where the "Captain" comes into it... could be Naval or he could have been a Soldier.... Does anyone have a Jane MUIR married to a John CAMPBELL.. Jane was born 1929 in Mauchline...the Parents died young and I think Elder Brother Matthew may have gone back to Scotland to bring Jane out to Australia......several possibilities for her entry into Australia many entries as just "Miss MUIR" and several for a return as Jane CAMPBELL Hoping someone recognizes the above Jan No virus found in this outgoing message.
