    3. Hi John The only 1891 census available online is at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/index.aspx On the 1881 census I think some of your family are living in Govan Lanark. Charles aged 60 widow born Irvine Ayr, plus Thomas & Helen. Do you have this info.? If not I would be happy to send. I couldn't find any Campbell's living at Mossbank Place on the 1881 census Regards Lorraine Cairns Queensland Australia

Agus maith dhuinn ar fiachan, amhail a mhaitheas sinne dar luchd-fiach. 2. I am a new subscriber endeavoring to trace my great-grandparents Charles Campbell and Annabella Scoular. I have Charles' death certificate showing that he died on December 21, 1894 in his son Charles' home. I know nothing about this son as he must have been of an earlier marriage. I am not totally able to discern the address although it looks like "2 Mossbank Place, Uddingstone, District of Bothwell, County Lanark". I am wondering if there is SKS who might have access to the 1891 census who could let me know who was residing at that address at that time, in particular their names, ages and where they were born? I'd be ever so grateful. John Mowatt Bate Clearwater, Florida

    3. Sue Marge... I go to Nelson quite often and will be going in a week or so and will stop by Haines Chapel and take a picture of Ambrose and Dorcas Campbell's final resting place and send to ya. I can not follow you on the Ellis Campbell subject but what about Cornelius Cambell from Nelson County? Do your know Lilly Martin from Syria? She descends from Cornelius Campbell Nelson county. I recall stopping in the Nelson CH and gathering all kinds of information on this Cornelius Campbel - about the same time I believe. Could this be a relative of Ellis or Fountaine? 3. Hi Bucky & Sam I just got in from my little Texas adventure... Bucky, would you be able to email me the photos of Ambrose & Dorcas' gravestones if you have them? Also, There is an Ellis R Campbell b 1756 in Middlesex county NJ who had sons named Joel, Edward, Matthew, Ellis (not the one we seek), Cornelius.. And there may have been more. In Ellis R.'s will dated 1810 (he died in 1814 in Somerset co NJ)the son Joel is mentioned as underage. For that reason I discounted him as a possible for Ellis b 1804 in VA. The son Cornelius is about the only one I can't account for, and could be right age to be Ellis b 1804 in VA's parent. One source says Cornelius married Betsy Lenox on in March of 1804 in Davidson co TN. I find the marriage record, but no proof of his being born in NJ. For anyone who might know what were the Upper and Lower Districts? What and how was Russell County divided to know the difference? Or was it an actual line on a map or more of an imaginary mark? 3. Sam; No, I have been checking the Nelson/Amherst/Rockbridge and Augusta county Campbell's for 18 years - and the only time I have ran across Fountain Campbell was when I was specifically looking for him - like in Augusta and Russell counties. You can bet I am always on the look out for Fountain. 1. Burial Place of AMBROSE & DORCUS CAMPBELL
    2. To Steven Campbell & anyone else interested in these two Campbelll's. This was sent to me from Brent Campbell, descendant of Joel Campbell, son of Henry Campbell on June 27, 2000. Small world huh?!" Note to Steven: Sorry it took me so long to find the email with the information regarding the two pictures of the headstones. There are a number of Ambrose Campbell's in the southwest VA area, and they are often mixed up. George Campbell (d. 1791) also had a son Ambrose. Ambrose & Joel were two popular names for the Campbell's. I won't even mention John.....there are dozens! There was another Ambrose Campbell who married Anna Christ, and one who married Rhoda...? I haven't researched the other Ambrose Campbell's, so I'm not much help there.
