    3. Thank you Lily, for the medical college idea. Although I already know his wife's name and his parents, it may well have further information that I don't have. Getting to my nearby library for interlibrary loan is iffy at best (our hours don't work out) and I already know that they WILL NOT do an interlibrary search if I call them or e-mail them. I must be there in person when the lady that does the searches is there. Marlene -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 3. Dear Marlene, You must focus on some way to get ahold of that BOOK. It well may have a biography in it and give his parents names, or at least his wife. This would be so valuable to you. Go to your local public library, and ask to speak with the reference librarian, and ask how you can get that book on InterLibrary Loan program. If they will locate the book for you, and they know how to do that, then a request is put in to get the book sent to your library. The other way is to find out where the book is, if it is at a medical library, then you could write them and ask for a copy of the page in which he is mentioned, and you can send them SASE and money to cover the copy charge. I also have a Doctor among my ancestors, and I was sent an entire biography on him when I emailed the Medical Library of Iowa, because he was from Iowa. 3. For those interested, we visited the Thomas Massie cemetery at Level Green yesterday, and low and behold the cemetery has been completely cleaned. No longer saplings growing as large as your wrist - or wild asparagus or even shoe strings. The place was immaculate with merely grass showing itself from the ground. Did visit with Billy Hite, the current owner of the Massie place who documented the clean up. But the clean up was accounted for by the Massies through an old Massie trust. 2. Hi,Sandy, After getting back home after work I looked at my info on John "D" Spirgen Massie. I must have been looking "cross-eyed" at the list because he definitely is listed as a son of Nipolean (Nip) Massie and Lou Maddox. Nip was the son of Charles and Sally(Miller) Massie. The children of Nip are: 1. Ludie died 5/16/1975 m. Bessie Mays 2. Mary Massie m. Rob Cash 3. Eveline Massie m. Candy Lemon Cash 4. Sheffy Dan Massie m. Nettie Campbell and lived in Waynesboro area 5. Charles - unmarried- Froze to death 6. John "D" Spirgen m. Lonnie Maddox All of this info came from Dr. Massie's early research called "Descendents of Thomas and Mary Walker Massie". 2. Sandy, I checked the 1930 Census also and found the household as you did except: Judy is actually Lucy 16 in school Emrel is Everett 5 This was probably John and Lonie's only marriage at this time. John was 21 in 1911 and Lonie 22 in 1910 at their first marriage. Their first child was born about 1912. John and Lonie are both buried in the John Will Cemetery [also called Alhambra Cemetery]. I took a picture of their grave when I visited a couple years ago. Hope this helps you out even more. Cuz, Wanda

    1. Eliza Hollar Campbell, David Taylor Campbell, North Carolina (Alexander & Catawba Counties)
    2. Catherine Byrd
    3. My great-grandfather was David Taylor Campbell (b. 1864). He lived in Taylorsville, Alexander County, North Carolina with Eliza HOLLAR/HOLLER CAMPBELL (his mother) and his three siblings: Mary Grace CAMPBELL (b. 1862), Candace CAMPBELL (b. 1867) and Walter C. CAMPBELL (b. 1869). Now, let me back track. David HOLLAR (b. 1806) was married to Sarah ?. In the 1840 or 1850 census, they were listed in Lincoln County. I know Catawba broke off of Lincoln County. There are many HOLLARs and HOLLERs in Catawba County as well as many CAMPBELLs. David HOLLAR (sometimes spelled HOLLER) was originally born in Catawba County (then called Lincoln County, I believe) and is also buried there. The 1860 census shows his daughter, Eliza HOLLAR, living at home. The 1870 census shows his daughter, Eliza CAMPBELL, living at home with the above named four children born 1862, 1864, 1867, and 1869 listed as his grandchildren. They are also still living there in the 1880 census. However, there is never a father listed. Obviously, his last name was CAMPBELL. However, I can find no records of a marriage, death, or divorce. In fact, in one of the censuses, Eliza is listed as married. I just recently located a marriage certificate for her oldest daughter, Mary G. CAMPBELL, that listed her father’s name as “S. A. CAMPBELL”, born in North Carolina. But when it asks if the father is living or dead, it is recorded as “unknown”. I think I may have found one of the other children recently in Texas records. If so, Walter C. CAMPBELL listed his father as “Sandy CAMPBELL”, born in North Carolina. I’m still trying to solidify that connection. Has anyone researched CAMPBELLs in North Carolina? I want to trace my lineage further back, but have come to the proverbial roadblock.
